Directed by Steven Spielberg Starring Dennis Weaver as the travelling salesman.
I quite like this film although I have never understood why the Truck driver took a dislike to David Mann's Red Plymouth. It all seemed a bit pointless but still very enjoyable to watch.
I know Gene quite likes this film, Any others ?

My brother used to love this film, although it's really a TV movie. I watched it a couple of years ago but it didn't seem to be as good as I remembered it Vi

I've never watched the complete film all the way through. It must have been one of Spielbergs first works. I noticed it on YouTube a few days ago. It was quite a good quality picture for YouTube.
Charles.

Charles. I came across it on youtube and I thought it looked good quality too. I think you're right Charles it was his first production.

I've seen it. One of those physcological dramas where you never know the reasons why the events are happening. Another similar one was the "The car" of 1977. Turned into Cult films years after launch.

Turned into Cult films years after launch. Yes, I remember the film "The Car". That was supposed to be possessed by the Devil I think ?. Duel was different because you do catch a glimpse of the drivers arm and you see his feet as he walks around the truck kicking the tyres so we know there's a driver. We never see a driver in "The car" Duel is more of a psychological drama, for example the part in the truck stop where he's trying to rationalise what's happening. The two films are similar and both vehicles have menacing horns.

I found this if anyone's interested. It's supposed to be one of the trucks used in the film. Also found this photo which might be the same truck alongside is a Plymouth Valiant as used in the film. Having looked again it may not be the same truck.
