Anyone else like this film? It certainly has Get Carter and The Sweeney as touchstones, as regards its visual appeal. It's eccentric casting of Stacey Keach and Freddie Starr works (honest), and there is a whole bunch of Brit A listers as well (Stephen Boyd in his native Ulster tones). I guess it's not quite as good as Carter and Long Good Friday, but it's a real cult alternative.

Very good film with a screenplay by Minder creator Leon Griffiths. Pairing up Keach & Starr was an odd decision, works out ok but personally I would've prefered other performers! David Hemmings is good in everything he does I think & Boyd makes a nasty villain. Carol White also very effective. The soundtrack is good too. I expect it'll get a blu ray release in the future, currently only available as a US import dvd. I think it got a showing on Channel 5 years ago.
The opening dialogue of the trailer is a bit dodgy, 'colourful festivals & even more colourful riots', the Notting Hill riots were in 1958 (!) & were caused by teddy boys & others open hostility towards the West Indian immigrants.

They may be referring in a non PC way to the 1976 Notting Hill Carnival riots.

Thanks for posting the trailer Bojan. Love The Squeeze and came to it by chance when I saw the last 10 or so minutes of it on C5 in 2001 or something... wish I'd seen it all back then! I'll try and do a proper write up on this ASAP for sure a film if you like British armed robber/crime films like Long Good Friday or McVicar you'll like this one too. Should have a proper UK DVD release too... maybe Freddie Starr's recent legal troubles may (more than likely will) prevent this even if nothing was proven against him.

I'm reading Sex Pistol Steve Jones biography. He says in it, he can be seen in the film, walking through portobello market in an Hawaiian shirt. Good reason to dig the film out again!
