Has anybody watched this short-lived Thames TV sitcom from 1969 starring Sid James and Victor Spinetti? Only two series were made; the first shown in black and white; the second in 1970 in colour. Audience figures were generally good for the first, but apparently dropped off for the second. Network have released the show on DVD. Sid and Vic play frustrated London office workers who suddenly decide to quit their jobs and buy a farm in the country. The outdoor scenes were filmed at Barwell Court Farm near Chessington, Surrey. It seems quite funny to me. There is a clip on YouTube. Vi

I've only seen the same yt clip but I did wonder before about buying it in Network's sale. Vince Powell/Harry Driver are dependable writers & Sid James is always good to watch & there's a number of familiar guest stars including Garfield Morgan in one episode! Here's a review of the Network release- www.zetaminor.com/dvd/dvdreviews/two_in_clover.htm

Btw, have you noticed that the 70's sitcom 'You're Only Young Twice' has been showing on ITV3? I'd never heard of it before now. It's pretty terrible with Peggy Mount, Pat Coombs & others in what's supposed to be a retirement home, except by today's standards it looks more like a stately home & all the occupants are apparently fit & healthy so what they're doing there is anyone's guess. I read that Pat Coombs & Peggy Mount were close friends & ended their days together in the same retirement home, Denville Hall for retired entertainers.

I never heard of this one. I know Sid did quite a few TV series during his career, but I've not noticed this show being mentioned anywhere.
I'm interested in what type of character Sid played in it though, and what the format of the Show was about.
Charles.

Sid James was also in Bless this House with Diana Coupland at about the same time, maybe a bit later, certainly early 70s
