Sounds like a brilliant meet. Enjoy your step back in time Like the smiley Batgirl. Is that you coming out of a tunnel with sunglasses on? Well that's a different perspective. Or maybe I'm inspired by Foxy Brown.

TOTAL SO FAR:- 18 MEMBERS 6 CARS BOOKED (24 SEATS) ALL DRIVERS STAYING AT THE PREMIER IN SHOULD ALREADY KNOW HOW TO GET TO THE CAR PARK IN LOMBARD STREET AT THE SIDE OF THE HOTEL.You will need to head for The Sage, Gateshead on the morning to park up. I've parked here quite a few times and it is OK. From here you need to walk across the SWING BRIDGE - NOT The Tyne Bridge to get to the Meet up point. It's just a 10 minute walk. https://www.instagram.com/p/C0bL_RgIyin At the end of the walkabout tour on the morning, you need to go back along the same route to get to your car with your passengers. If you need directions to The Sage, let me know. It is really easy.
THE ITINERARY.
You will notice I have included 1 extra drive-by location. It is the location seen in the Likely Lads film when Bob & Terry return from the pub with the wine to the caravan site only to realise they can't find their caravan! We will not be stopping here as the place is totally changed since the 70s. Suffice to know that this is where that particular scene was filmed all those years ago. I have also prepared a set of driving route instructions for each car. They are in PDF format. I won't post it up on here so if anyone attending would like a copy of these directions then drop me a PM with your email address and I'll get one sent over to you immediately. It may be quite helpful for drivers to have a look through this to familiarise themselves with the route. It is much easier than driving around London!PLEASE NOTE - Even though I would like to keep as closely as possible to the timings below, THEY ARE APPROXIMATE. With most of us staying in Newcastle overnight, there is some room for manoeuvre within the schedule. START TIME IS NOT FLEXIBLE THOUGH.MEET UP UNDER THE TYNE BRIDGE (right next to The Premier Inn Quayside) at 9am.
COMMENCE MEET AT 9:30am Part 1: A Walking Tour.WALKING ROUTE IS JUST OVER 1 MILE and should see us back at the starting point for 11am. (1 and a half hours in total)- Quayside - AWP - Oz says Auf Wiedersehen to Rod
- Quayside - Likely Lads - Terry signs on for the ship
- Quayside - Carter jumps in Gloria's car when running from McCarty
- Swing Bridge - Get Carter - Carter does the drug deal
- High Level Bridge - Get Carter - Carter escapes from Con McCarty & Peter the Dutchman
- The Long Steps - Get Carter - Carter is chased down the steps by Con McCarty
- Newcastle Arms - AWP - Oz & Mox go into the pub after Dennis drops them off in the Camper Van
RETURN TO CARS We will all be parked at the Premier Inn with the exception of Villain and his passengers. Villains car will be safely parked on The Sage Car Park, which is just a 10 minute walk back across the Swing Bridge.
Here is a map of how Villain and his passengers can get back to the Car.
https://www.instagram.com/p/C0bL_RgIyin
Allowing Villain & co time to get back over to the car, we will then set off on the afternoon leg of the tour in the cars at 11:15am.
Part 2: The Driving Tour.
DRIVING:
- Get Carter - The Crematorium (Approx 11:30am - 11:50am)
- Get Carter - The Staithes - Carter chases Eric (12:20 - 12:40)
- Likely Lads Film - The Beehive (25 minute break for a swift jar) (1pm - 1:25pm)
- Likely Lads Film - Caravan Site (DRIVE BY ONLY)
- Likely Lads Film - Whitley Bay - (90 minutes) - A short walk to Ivanhoe Guest House, back to the bench Terry & Bob sit on along the seafront and maybe chance to grab a fish & chips at an establishment I've used before nearby. (1:35pm - 3pm)
- Likely Lads Film - Tynemouth Pier - Bob Fishing "I've only got 6 cans" (3.10pm - 3.40pm)
- Get Carter - The Las Vegas Guest House (4.05pm - 4.20pm)
- Get Carter - Blackhall Rocks - Carter kills Eric before being zeroed by the hitman. (1 hour 30 mins) (5pm - 6.30pm)
I anticipate getting to Blackhall Rocks for around 5pm and have allowed 90 minutes here as it involves a walk along the beach to the location. This should see us back at the cars for 6:30pm. Those of us then returning to The Premier Inn Quayside should be parked up 7.15 / 7.30pm.
NOTE: The afternoon drive will cover more miles than we have done at previous Sweeney Meets, but driving is much easier up North and on the many previous visits to these locations that I have done over the years, I've never encountered any issues at all. I anticipate that from when we start off up until we get to the final location at Blackhall Rocks we will have covered roughly 70 miles. This just leaves the drive back into town for those of us booked into the Premier Inn.
Given the mileage we will be covering, it will be necessary for all passengers in cars to help their driver with something towards fuel costs. Personally, I think £10 per person is relatively fair.
Any questions regarding any aspect of the itinerary - especially drivers, don't hesitate to ask me. I'll help all I can. As you can see, it is more important than ever before that we can rely on you as drivers to turn up for this event. It would leave everyone in a total mess if a driver failed to show.
SATURDAY FAMOUS PUB CRAWL
For those who want to join us, I have drafted out an evening walkabout that will take in a few "famous" pubs. That is, pubs that have been seen in TV or film. This walkabout will commence at 6pm from the Premier Inn. Can I ask everyone to try and be in the lobby just before 6 so we can all start off as near to 6 as possible. If you want to join us but can't make the 6pm start, PM me for my phone number and you can give me a call after 6pm to see where we are and get over to us. The first pub on the walkabout is fairly near to the hotel so you shouldn't have far to go if you just miss the 6PM start. After that though we will be getting further away before returning closer to base last thing.
I won't divulge the pubs we are visiting as a few have requested that it be a surprise each time we get to the next pub. REMEMBER - WE MEET UNDER THE TYNE BRIDGE AT 9AM AND START OFF AT 9.30AM. NOT A MINUTE LATER. IF YOU ARE NOT THERE WE START WITHOUT YOU.Any questions about any aspect of the Meet - Ask now before it's too late.
Gene.

Great Gene. My God! You have put some work into this meet pal. I watched Get Carter again last night. What a fantastic film, and a terrific performance from Michael Caine. I'm really excited at the thought that next Sunday we will be there where it it all happened. I'm also happy about the start time of the Saturday pub crawl as it will be nice to settle in the hotel and perhaps have a little look around first. Thanks a million.
Charles.

Attention all drivers...I originally booked my car park space at the Premier Inn soon after I booked my hotel room. However, a couple of days ago I phoned them just to double check that they had me on the list for a car park space, but they had no record of my space! Luckily they were able to find a space for me. I suggest all drivers make contact with the hotel to check they are on the list for the car park Thanks The Saint
