4:3tv will be offline for a short time this evening (from approx 7pm) while I make some essential changes to the system. These will include changes to the structure of the boards to make the main page easier to navigate. We will also be losing the "quick reply" feature. This may be a temporary change but it is something that will eventually be permanently removed when we roll out the next major system upgrade to V6.
Hopefully, I'll have us back online in a couple of hours.
Gene.

OK Folks, all done. Thankfully, no data was lost or misplaced in the process! The changes may not be immediately apparent so I'll explain. Firstly, the main front page of the forum is where most of the work has been done. Previously, there were around 15+ category boards listed on the front page. This was starting to look a little cluttered with the continual expansion of the forum. What I've done here is to reconstruct the board mapping to make it much more concise. You'll now see there are just 8 Category boards (9 if you are a Verified Member). These are now categorised to make navigation much easier. For instance, click on the "TV & Film Discussion" board, and it will reveal 4 new sub boards - one for 60's, one for 70's etc. Similar changes also to other boards on the forum results in a much cleaner look which is easier to navigate for everyone. The next change I've made is with the way we post a reply in a thread. Previously, at the foot of each thread, you would have a "quick reply" box in which you could quickly type a response and post it. With this method, you did not have any access to the various formatting functions such as text type, image embedding and smileys. Having chatted with a few members recently, I found that a lot of you didn't use the quick reply function, instead opting to click on the "REPLY" button to get to the full editing box. One member was in fact unaware there was a full reply editor even on this forum! With this in mind, I have coded out the "quick reply" function so that in order for you to post a response, you will have to click on the "REPLY" button to open up the box to type that response.. In actual fact, when we roll out the next major upgrade to the Proboards platform (V6) the quick reply function will no longer be available anyway, so this way, we get a little more time to get used to it. A few other cosmetic and functional changes were made, but apart from that, we are good to go! Any problems, let us know and we'll look into it Gene Hunt.

Agreed it is a lot cleaner on the home page It really tidies it up nicely after several growth spurts since its inception.

Great update Gene, thanks for putting this into place
The front page looks neater now and should help with making navigation through the boards easier.

I like the Copper bronze (Cortina colour) on the Life on Mars/Ashes to Ashes thread. Gosh who would have thought Gene Hunt would be so IT savvy.
