Well what an amazing day Sunday was, the best meet yet without a shadow of a doubt! Always great to catch up with the squad Gene put together a first class itinerary - as he always does, the Maida Vale walkabout was great, I am a Londoner but have never been to the Abbey Road Crossing, so it was interesting to see how little it had changed it 45+ years. Chuck in some Funeral in Berlin, Georgy Girl, Robbery and Minder locations to the mix and the morning session flew by! Del Boy's dressing up was very entertaining, Nosher was re-born! Well done mate! A visit to the legendary Sweeney boozer The Warrington made the perfect lunchtime pit stop, a great pub - just like stepping back in time! The afternoon Sweeney walkabout was most enjoyable, the mix of general TV and film in the morning and Sweeney afternoon made for a perfect mix of locations, well done guv'nor! John Lyons together with his wife Ann joining us for the evening meal was the icing on the cake! They are such lovely down to earth people John is so giving with his time and genuinely happy to talk about his career and TV & films in general, huge thanks to them both for coming down to visit us again Stan did a first class job in the role of MC, just what we needed to make sure proceedings run well Thanks again Gene for all the work you put into the meet, it is much appreciated Thanks also go to Sam for the travel planning and to Del Boy for all his behind the scenes work on the forum Roll on the next 4:3tv meet in April The Saint

4:3 TV Meet 003: The Maida Vale & Hammersmith Walk
Wow what a weekend it turned out to be! 4:3 TV Meet 003 smashed it Saturday: Pre-Meet As Gene says the weekend started early for some of us as Gene, Del and Raquel had a chat over a fry up at Nelson Mandela House. Stomach's lined it was over to Hammersmith to meet a few Squad in advance of the 6pm start time for the now customary pre-meet drinky poo's, which this time was lined up for the Blackfriar pub in Blackfriars. A quick one pint pit stop at The Star Tavern in Belgravia (What a great little boozer this is) and the drinking squad were ready for the official start of the pre-meet drink, which duly kicked off on time . We were joined there by Windy and Carter and the pints flowed as the squad moved around The Albion, * The Cheshire cheese and a final one at the Seven Stars. *The Cheshire cheese is a historic old place, proudly boasting on its signage that it was Rebuilt in 1667 A crazy freaky journey home to Nelson Mandela amongst the *Halloween Freaks (*toned down version from Del's inebriated quote on the night )
Sunday: The Meet The clocks went back thankfully, but still it was an early start as Gene fired up the Z and nearly knocked Uncle Albert out of his hammock I love driving early on a Sunday morning and the cross London route to Colet is a nice drive at that time of day. I was struck at just how much traffic there was on the road on a Sunday morning
Steve Austin and Athene Noctua were already there and a quick greeting later the rest of the Breakfast squad were assembled so on to Wetherspoons for some hearty fare. As pictured above in Windy's post. (Yummy after a night on the sauce I can tell you) Back to Colet at 9 a.m to rendezvous for the official Meet and Greet and 30 mins later we were all systems go. This was rather strange not to be hopping into motors and map reading our way to the first location. This time the start of this operation was a stroll down to Barons Court tube for our short journey to Warwick Avenue. (I'm glad to say this part of the meet went smoothly with no ticket trouble or delays)
Booting off the meet at The Warrington with its Sweeney legend status was a welcome backdrop, as we met up with our driving crew Stan And Michael Rodd. The first half of the meet took in locations from TV Film and the most famous road crossing in the world. This gave me an opportunity to allow my Nosher Powell Scottish footy fan character to join the squad. We covered Funeral In Berlin, Abbey Road, Man About The House-house, Georgy Girl, Robbery! and Minder. Each and everyone of those was good to see and my personal favourites were the canal side location from Robbery! and the nick from Minder.
More squad banter on the way to a welcome lunch break at The Warrington, and it was time for this meets recreations. Gene's timings had us there when it was fairly empty to allow this. So roped into the action were Gerry Burtonshaw,Steve Austin, Carter, Dirty Epic and Sam Tyler alongside Del's Nosher Powell tribute. Gerry Burtonshaw duly starts the scrap with his trip ,Steve Austin and Carter then continue the scrap with Del punching his pal Sam Tyler who lands a peach of a shot knocking Del over the table. Dirty Epic watches proceedings from The Guvnors point of view. #Nick Him And All
All good fun and the offer of a pint whilst I was busy with all this was most welcome cheers Dirty Epic Unfortunately as I quaffed my pint and proclaimed what a fine pint of Guinness this establishment serves , Gene and Sam et all had a bloody good laugh as they informed me it was in fact Murphy's ...
London's famous tube etiquette was tested to the max when my seventies attired football fan joined them along with the Squad on the tube journey back to Barons Court for Part 2 The Sweeney Hammersmith section.
We saw great Sweeney locations from the following episodes and all on a fairly short route. Namely Trust Red, One OF Your Own, Jack or Knave, Pay Off , Feet Of Clay, The Placer, Hit & Run, Messenger Of The Gods and Money Money Money. With this amazing Sweeney fest completed our plates had one final job to do, deliver us back to Brook Green and The Queens Head.
Not long after stepping in the door and getting a pint in it was dark so the timings were nailed and the most was made out of the day.
Special Guest : John Lyons Excellent coup by Gene to get John and Ann Lyons to come to a meet to speak to us. Expertly compared by Stan I might add , John was in top form as he delivered an after dinner speech. John spoke of his career in full from the humble beginnings as an actor and right through the years of T.V, stage and film work. And also some plans for next year. Some great anecdotes of his experience working with many other famous people he'd worked with, the likes of John Thaw, Sir David Jason et al .The humour on set section of DCI Frost series sounded hilarious. (Well done Steve Austin for finding clips of some of it on YouTube.) An hour drifted away pretty quickly whilst we listened I can tell you.
This all capped off by a Q.A from the Squad and then photos and signings a many, nothing was too much trouble for John. What a top guest. I'm glad I was there to hear it all.
Thanks Many thanks go to Gene for the gold watch and lift to the meet and of course for planning the job to his usual high standards To Sam and Saint for assisting on the thread and Steve Austin For helping out with excellent copies of the grabs Stan, for expertly presenting the after dinner part of the meet. Excellent work Stan Superclassic , Dirty Epic and Peter Picard for getting me pint in. Most welcome cheers lads Steve Austin, for my Sweeney music Cd Mickyosan, for the photos of this and last years Sweeney meet and to the rest of the squad for the great interactions and banter throughout the day that made this the best meet yet Hope i've not forgot anyone else.
Photo slideshow to follow soon. Last call for any more photos to be included. (Send to me via email delboy43tv@gmail.com)
Can't wait for April 2017 , cheers all Del

As for next time keep em peeled because plans are in the oven already and its possible it could be announced sooner than usual.

I can't believe it was five years ago that John first came to a meet. Im sure I'm not alone in thinking he looked younger this time than before.
