1978 was a truly great year for singles. You were blessed being a teenager in those times with all that good music.

1978 was a truly great year for singles. You were blessed being a teenager in those times with all that good music. At school in 1978, we 5th formers pushed to have our own Common Room. It wasn't as lavish as the 6th Former's room with their comfy chairs and coffee machine, but it did have the all important record player! What I remember is that everyone brought their own selection of music in and you respected the diverse choices of everyone. The girls would bring in Travolta/Newton-John. The rock fans would bring Foreigner. Others would bring disco, from The Bee Gees to the Michael Zager Band. I probably brought in some Steely Dan or Joe Walsh, and all of us sat one lunchtime almost in silence to the first play of Bat Out Of Hell. We even got away with playing that Ivor Biggun single when the teachers were out of earshot. I assume these days the kids just plug in their earphones and seek out their own Spotify lists during breaks.

Diverse styles but big hits from all the genres that year. Fantastic stuff.

1978, and 79, were THE all time peak of music. Some fantastic varied stuff, a great combination of New Wave and Disco. It was as good as it ever got.

A previous post of mine about Thes One reworking compositions by Herb Pilhofer led me to seek out the man himself and I've been listening to a lot of his music lately and this one is a peach, very reminiscent of the library music of KPM & De Wolfe.

Heard this on R2 from up and coming artist Georgie. It's only had a couple of thousand views on YouTube so far which is surprising. It's chorus has stuck around in the mind during the week. I think it's a good track, hope it takes off for her.
The live version is worth a look as its minus a lot of that compressed type sound that seems to be on everything these days.

Don't normally listen to too much new music but these two caught my ears recently. Nice to hear some decent stuff coming out.
