One of the girl backing singers in Kitchen at Parties was Kirsty McCall. Hadn't realised that ! I'll have to search for a TOTP appearance. Love Kirsty's stuff ! Actually, the 1979/80 era seemed to have quite a few songs with similar styles. Jona's work always reminded me of BA Robertson's style. Then there was Cat's UK with Luton Airport around that time. Thinking about it, BA Robertson was a Glaswegian singing in a Southern accent. Then there was Patrick Hernandez ( Born To Be Alive) who was a Frenchman singing in what sounded like an Irish accent. Then a few years later Baltimora ( Tarzan Boy) an Irishman who sang in a French accent.

Another bit of trivia about Cats UK is that one of the girls in it was later Viv Windsor in Emmerdale.
I love the 79/80 period musically.

A couple of weeks ago I watched Nick Love's 2009 version of The Firm (originally made in 1989 starring Gary Oldman). I had resisted checking Love's version for a long time as it's a tall order to remake a classic, but I quite enjoyed it.
This afternoon's listening is heavily influenced by the soundtrack from The Firm with great early to mid 80s dance classics:-
Ooops Upside Your Head - Gap Band Hey You, The Rock Steady Crew - Rock Steady Crew Don't Stop The Music - Yarbrough and Peoples Living It Up (The Sun Goes Down) - Level 42 Shannon - Let the Music Play Put Our Heads Together - O'Jays You're The One For Me - D-Train I Found Loving - Fatback Band (I prefer this version to the cover by DJ Steve Walsh, but still find myself shouting You what, you what .... you what, you what, you what whichever version I hear)

I watched a few excerpts of Radio On last night, only bits of it that are on You Tube, I must get round to watching the whole film as soon as possible.
It's put me in the mood for a bit of new wave stuff from 79/80
