A friend mentioned Any Trouble the other week and that inspired me to embrace their debut LP... Any Trouble - Where Are All The Nice Girls (1980)It's been on heavy rotation ever since, and that's because it's chock full of great pop tunes A real forgotten gem Mainman Clive Gregson was a tunesmith of rare talent It's a little bit Joe Jackson, and Gregson often sounds remarkably like Elvis Costello, but don't let that put you off Any fans in the house? Still sounds fun and fresh with more sharp tunes than you can shake a stick at I had a listen and your comparison to Joe Jackson is a good shout. What is evident is that contemporary sound from the turn of the 80s including other stuff from Stiff Records. It's got some nice upbeat grooves going on in many of the numbers, add good riffs and overall there's strong songs. Surprised I never heard any offerings from this band before.

Glad to learn it hit the spot Del
After a few plays the quality of the songwriting really comes through
Makes me wonder how many more unsung artists there are who could and should have got more acclaim

Never heard this before and intrigued to hear it later today.... Allan Jones in Uncut seem favourably disposed... Before an unapologetic pursuit of a debonair playboy lifestyle became more of a talking point than his music, Bryan Ferry was nigh-on untouchable. By the time this album was recorded, he had, in a little over two years, made four blow-your-head-off albums with Roxy Music and released two hugely popular solo albums.

Me neither, Lord Em! I'm more familiar with the Roxy Music albums from this time rather than his solo stuff, although I listened to These Foolish Things fairly recently. I'll have a listen to this myself in the near future Vi

As you say, Ferrys early stuff, with Roxy Music, was good. His later career though, I didn't like

I would include that album, yes. The same old scene was a great song, brings back memories of an office night out in late 1980
