Love it, now you're talking. The Atari was the stuff of dreams. I finally got one around 1981 when Pac Man made it onto the console.

Can't quite make it out because it's tiny writing on the bottom of the advert. It gives the price 399.99 inc VAT That was a lot of dough in 1978.

Looks to me as if it was £359.95, still plenty of wonga at the time.

To put it into perspective, in 1973, a new Cortina would set you back £1000
In 1978, a new Capri would have been £4000.

Cartridges £34.95 each Or is it a more reasonable £14.95, hard to tell. I seem to remember them being around the 30 quid mark in the early 80's. They were that expensive that you would only really get them for christmas / birthday prezzies. Combat that came with it was an excellent game. According to a post on AtariAge atariage cartridge price discussion"In the Uk games such as Pacman, Berzerk etc all cost £29.99 while games such as Slot Racers and Video Olympics cost £18.99. Funny enough Activision games came in at only £24.99 including titles such as Pitfall and Star Master." From 1984 the console was ageing and the price reduced to between £10 and £20.

Don't remember those games Arthur but the Super Cobra looks cool. I really liked Pitfall from Activision for the Atari. I also had a Star Wars game that was cool.
