Beer drinking as an event would at least guarantee one medal for Australia every year Yep. Bronze.

Mind you the lads from Auf Pet didn't do too well in the drinking contest with the Aussies in the embassy in Laos! No video I'm afraid but might not be a bad thing IMHO. I'm a bit indifferent to the Olympics but too much scandal and cheating around ATM.

I'm glad you started this thread Batgirl because it gives me the opportunity to say I cannot stand the Olympics. Every 4 years we are supposed to get excited about someone running and skipping into a sandpit the furthest or jumping over fences or throwing a pointy stick. I must admit that it does nothing for me either. The only thing I do have is a great deal of admiration for the paralympians.
Although I used to enjoy various sports when younger, they are not the events I wish to watch on the box. Give me any form of motorsport and I'll watch but Commonwealth Games, Olympics, or any other such events and I'll be snoozing.
The other point against this one is that Andy Murray was flag bearer for "Team GB", such a hypocrite! I'm sure Liam Gallagher questioned it too...
Sam.

Saw a clip of Murray holding the flag, he looked like a Celtic fan being offered a Rangers shirt to wear.

Australia are doing well
The Septics should do better than us really given they have a population more than 5 times the size of the UK to choose it's entrants from.

Australian armchair viewers of the Games always enjoy the first week because the swimming will usually bring in some Aussie medals. Once it gets to the second week with the athletics we tend to go quiet. The enthusiasm here isn't as overwhelming as it was at the London 2012 Games though at those Games our swimmers were canned here in the press for partying harder than they swam. I watched a bit of water polo today. That sport is seriously hard work. I'd be concentrating on not drowning for the whole match let alone passing the ball and scoring goals.
