Anyone know how the present owner acquired the car? I am not sure of the details, but I recall he has owned it for around 30 years. The Saint

Anyone know how the present owner acquired the car? We are in regular contact with the owner and do know the details of when he bought it, where he lived at the time and where he kept it but until such time that he's happy for us to divulge more details we do need to respect that he still wishes to keep some details private until such time that the car makes its debut. Sam.

Sam. Hopefully that’s fairly soon given the pictures.

What about VHK 491S from series 4?
Is that still in piece anywhere?
Or NHK 296M, the Ford Cortina which featured quite a bit?

NHK296M was not taxed since 1984 but the registration number itself was sold off by DVLA and owned by a Sweeney fan. The blue Cortina itself, was rumoured to have ended its life in Dorset at the time it was scrapped.
The real VHK491S was exported in mid 1978, (they never said to which country - so don't know where the Germany rumours came from) according to DVLA's reply to me when I made enquiries in 2004. The record was "voided" but weirdly the DVLA records are now showing it as a visible record with the last tax expiring Sept 1979............ They didn't want to sell off the reg number "in case it surfaces and comes back to the UK".
