I hadn't heard of the film either Lord E, or, I'm ashamed to say, Roy Harper, until Network released it. Comes with a nice booklet as well, well worth £5. I think it helps if you're a fan of Roy Harper as he plays himself basically & his music is heard throughout. According to imdb, Marc Bolan & Kris Kristofferson were considered for the role. John Cameron was musical director on the film.
The film is based on a play called 'No One Was Saved', some stills from the play in the link below show that the Roy Harper character was originally John Lennon ( played by Mike D'Abo of Manfred Mann ), the Carol White character Eleanor Rigby ( Maureen Lipman ) & the priest is of course called 'Fr. MacKenzie'.
You might call Made 'Poor Cow 2'. Poor Sheila White was forever being cast in these downtrodden roles.

Thanks as always Arthur. This part of your post caught my eye.... ' Made' interesting 'docudrama' featuring folk singer Roy Harper, directed by John 'Long Good Friday' MacKenzie & released soon by Network on blu ray
Sounds well worth a watch
Extra interest for me when I noticed...
And if the subject matter is a touch off-putting, the fact Mackenzie shot extensively on location – with Brighton, a place I happen to adore, being particularly well represented – should leave viewers with a passion for period footage feeling suitably rewarded
Sold! Literally. Just bought my copy.
Anyone else seen it?
Thanks again Arthur
The DVD has arrived and I look forward to watching it soon
More musings when I've had a gander

I've watched Made now
Very enjoyable period piece
Roy Harper is great as the rising rock star
Carole White is stunning as the everywoman suffering from being besieged by so many male idiots
Some good football aggro in there too - as well as the scenes shot in Brighton
I assume the football scenes were at Charlton (but it could be the old Millwall ground) - anyone know for sure?
It's got a lot of misery and suffering however as a slice of early 70s British cinema it's hard to beat
I must rewatch Poor Cow soon.

Here's the trailer. I'm pretty certain it's The Valley, Charlton's football ground as a lot of the other bits in the trailer are from that general area. The bit on the Routemaster is going westbound along Woolwich Road towards Greenwich. If you stop the video at 3.11 you will see the south side terminal of Woolwich Ferry.

He looks a bit like young Wally Vince from Sweeney ep Golden Fleece, minus the thick bins of course.

There seems to be a lot of films that are based around albums or portray the life of bands. Not sure if this thread should be in the film or music section. One of the best films based around an album is Quadrophenia (1979) according to the tv paper review. This film is showing tonight on tv which made me think of this topic. I think the storyline and setting gave the film much of its longevity rather than just its music. Others that spring to mind are - Saturday Night Fever (1977) Walk the Line (2005) The Doors (1991) I don't think much of Val Kilmer as an actor, but he certainly did a top job portraying Jim Morrison I think Dirty Dancing has a great soundtrack and as well as being a sweet love story also highlights the innocence of the time as well as dealing prejudices and how family relationships change. Not to everyone’s taste but one that has stood the test of time 😊
