Just a point on the Rod Hull & Emu advert...
Was it actually a warning to viewers that Rod and Emu would be appearing in commercials - just in case young children are watching?

I can't find an example online, but does anyone remember the ads, often in the Radio and TV times, for those weird looking white stereo systems ? They NEVER quoted a price and you had to fill in a coupon for more details. I hear that there was a good reason they never quoted a price in the actual ads...because you needed to be seated with a stiff drink beside you when you heard it. This might not be the actual system but they looked similar to this :-

Bose stuff was always quite expensive, and in some (not all) cases overrated too.
What is the unit in the photo? It looks like something from "1984" that Big Brother would bark orders from a remote location through...

Yes they will have been Bose adverts. They had the style of an ad for the over 60's. Aimed at people who weren't clued up on sound systems but wanted something better than a clock radio.

These old TV Times scans are brilliant, they are bringing back memories of stuff I'd forgotten about, like Clapperboard, and Emmerdale Farm when it was on during the day. Meccano was good, I had some, it was made by the same firm who did Dinky toys cars and Hornby Dublo trains, at Binns Road in Liverpool.

Did anyone on here who had a Meccano set ever bother with the instruction book and just build something else?
