I was a bit too young to watch The Sweeney first time round but the perfect age for the Pros. It was essential viewing as an 8 or 9 year old and brings back a lot of nostalgia. Location heavy too which Bob's book has completely covered and glad to say I assisted with in a small way.
Best theme tune ever as well.

The Professionals Saturday nights was essential viewing. Laurie Johnson's theme tune was brilliant too, never tire of it. As the saying goes they don't make them like that any more.

I had series one blu ray for Christmas and I was staggered by the improvement over the previous DVD releases. It gives the show a new lease of life and renews your enthusiasm for familiar stories. I do think that the show perhaps became a parody of itself, though it doesn't spoil my enjoyment. Let's leave the gritty, realistic stuff to The Sweeney :D

Did you go Blu Ray or Dvd, Villain? Went for the DVD Del as I'd already bought Series 1 and, err, cough, mumble, mumble... still don't own a Blu-Ray player! Watched Rogue and Hunter / Hunted last night, a most agreeable two hours was had in the front parlour reliving memories of 1978 yet again. I've always liked the opening sequence of Rogue at Paddington station, it looked brilliant on the screen and took me right back to my early days on the railway. Have to say, the quality of this new DVD is astonishing compared to the older versions, there's so much colour and detail to absorb, especially on the cars and in the backgrounds. The only downside to this blatant self indulgent binge watching is the 'slight' urge to buy another '70s motor and the worrying pangs of guilt at having just sold one, ie : the Jaaaaaag . As usual with me, these things tend to go round in cycles, I start re-watching a particular series, then another, then another and inevitably end up looking at for sale ads for Jags, P6s, Capris and Granadas etc. Talk about a viscous cycle! Also, reading Andrew Pixley's background notes to the series makes you realise just how intertwined the various production crews were around that time, with 'Sweeney' personal moving onto 'The Professionals' and 'Out' which I also fancy watching again soon. Veering off topic and I know I'm in the wrong thread but this afternoon I saw a stonking Mk2 Grannie on the way home from work, a T reg'd 2.8 in two tone black over dark green, what a fantastic sight it was... Good stuff Villain and glad to hear the dvd version shows the fantastic restoration work on this series. I'm hoping Network will get the Minder resto to the same if not better quality as the Pro's, and live in hope that the Sweeney gets a revamp to this standard. When you compare the two the work on the Pro's is a much better resto than The Sweeney but of course The Sweeney was done a decade earlier.
