If at first you can't succeed, keep on trying. Historic England has written to the Manchester Council’s planning department - which is currently considering Neville's latest application for the site saying, 'We are unable to support the application on heritage grounds due to the cumulative harm that would be caused to highly graded listed buildings.' www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/news/greater-manchester-news/gary-neville-jacksons-row-plans-14216637The Sir Ralph Abercromby is safe, and I think that's it in the artist's drawing, dwarfed by the high rise tower directly behind it. The public consultation period for the revised proposals ends on Wednesday. Were planning permission to be granted, work could start within months. ...keeping a watch on what happens next.

Yeah thanks for the updates on this Windy. Developers.... I was just around Harrow Road this afternoon and had a look at a once brilliant pub The Flora which featured in Steptoe and was a really unique pub in that part of West London and was sold on for development in 2016. Two or so years later nothing's been done except The Flora is all boarded up and possibly becoming derelict awaiting it's fate.
Why can't some things be left alone?

Boarded up? What a waste! I went there for Christmas drinks with some good mates a few years back and it had so much character. Those types of buildings have a distinct architectural character that just can't be matched nowadays as well as many many years of history that can be wiped out in no time. Sam.

Its the game developers play. Buy the property, board it up and keep going for planning permission until its granted. They can't lose as the years this takes increases the value of the land and ergo the profit !!!!

We've been there a few times Sam and it never failed to impress us did it? Everything about it was superb not to mention the fact you could see Steptoes yard from it. Such a sad waste. Back to the Sir Ralph.... We will be doing a Life On Mars meet before too long and this will be a port of call. Gene.

Ridiculous isn't it, shame to see so many old pubs like that disappear in the name of making money.

Ta for the update Windy. That development is just so utterly awful it needs to be thrown out en masse. I have thought for a long time that Manchester City Council is little more than a front organisation for property speculators. It got like this after the IRA bomb in 96, which kicked off a frenzy of horrible glass boxes, which went way over and above what was needed to repair the damage.
