'Thunderbirds' epitomises 1960s ideals.
Looking at it now, while it is not impossible that such an organisation could exist (albeit not necessarily with members of one family ), there was some over-simplification.
They would need a huge amount of staff, e.g. engineers to service & maintain the huge craft. These and the operatives (the Tracy brothers) would have to be on shifts. It would not be possible for Brains (& Brains alone) to be the fleet engineer and also do all the maintenance work (which was inferred in one episode, when one of the craft was damaged and needed replacement parts).
In the 60s, there might have been trade union agreements to adhere to. Whilst in the future world in which TB is set, there could be modern employee problems like zero hours contracts, and the enterprise would be allied to global financial institutions, and would have to be profitable....
I suppose we should assume that all these things happened (albeit unseen), and we should enjoy the show for what it is

The book Thunderbirds ,The Vault, is a good detailed analysis of the series published for the 50th anniversary.It also illustrates toys,comics etc made available the sixties

Bumping this up, I saw this on another forum I'm on and thought people might like this which is Thunderbirds related, about the models made for the filming of the series. Incredibly skilled and lovely models, and nowadays not needed for filming with CGI etc, seems a shame somehow but enjoy - including the short Pathe film;

Thunderbirds really is a joy to watch... It is so evocative of the era even though it was set 100 in the future!!! Perfect televisual utopia!
