Must say I agree the films are better than the series.
Gives more time for character development and the scripts are very good compared to many spin off's
Best is Holiday.
Might be as it evokes memories of several visits to this Pontins in the early to mid 70s.

I went to the pontins site where they did Holiday on buses- in 2005 for a holiday, couldn't believe some of the apartments were still the same! Except obviously revamped inside. The club house was quite funny and reminded me like something off Phoenix nights lol!
We went in the indoor pool and it was so hot it must have been 100 degrees, I had to come out', but more interesting I noticed the decor of the indoor pool hadn't changed much, and the tiles on the floor looked exactly same as I it did back in the film!
That was ten years ago, I think most likely the whole camp as been changed now!?

TV Times Interview from Feb 1972 with Bob Grant and his missus. Their cat, seen in the photo and mentioned in the article, features in the last episode of On The Buses 'Gardening Time'- 'Tiberius Grant' in the closing credits. ( Click on the image to read it clearly ).  Blakey's line 'playing with yer pussy are yer?' got a big laugh from the audience  |

Both content and style are evocative of the early 70s.

Arthur and Olive were big favourites of mine. I don't think the series would have been as funny without them.
It is indeed a shame that with the exception of Anna they've all passed on now. One thing I found funny about the show was how Stan and Jack kept pulling all those young Dolly birds, when they must have been well into their forties.
On the subject of the Pontins camp in North Wales I stayed there once about eighteen years ago ago, and the accommodation was pretty basic but I think it's been much improved since then, after new investment.
