Just thought I'd start this thread as I quite like reading about retro TV.
Best all-round book for me so far:
'Nice to see it, to see it Nice' by Brian Viner
Considers from the perspective of someone whose childhood was in the 70s.
Nice mix of observation, humour, opinion and the social backdrop against which so many series were written.
Well worth a read in my view.
Interested in any other gems recommended by forum members.

I bought a book myself today, about the making of Dad's Army, (The series that is.) at the reduced price of three quid. I've not started reading it yet but it looks like it's going to be a good read. I'm not a huge Dad's Army fan but it's definately a great series of course. I got it from a book store called The Works, if anyone's interested. They have their own website but you might have to pay postage then. I was listening to Jon Pertwee on YouTube recently, and he said the BBC wanted him to play Captain Mainwaring, but he had to knock them back, due to other commitments. Just as well, Arthur Lowe was great in the role.
