I love The Saint, Roger certainly worked with lots of veteran actors during his time on the show. I like the early black and white episodes best.

Cool series - I remember when the colour eps were repeated on BBC2 in 1997 on Saturday afternoons

Typical of the period, some of the guest stars appear in more than one episode, the lovely Justine Lord for instance appears in four different episodes. Yes, you're right, Justine was lovely. I also like Suzan Farmer who appeared in more than one episode from the series.

You will have to learn to raise your eyebrow like the real S.T. before I consider you mate. Actually, I was passing a theatre in our city centre today, and I noticed that the man himself is appearing there next month talking about his life and long career.

Gawd bless Sir Rodge Of Moore The great man was on BBC Breakfast during the week but I missed it. I've almost finished watching the black & white boxset of The Saint, what a great series it was, and still is.... here are a couple of screen shots from the b&w series... And a few from the later colour episodes... Our man Rodge in a London underground car park, the red Mk1 Mini is the same one used later on in 'Randall & Hopkirk (Deceased)' and in one episode of 'The Persuaders', driven by Tony Curtis... Some great screenshots there Villain. Yes Roger was on Breakfast TV through the week. ( It might possibly be on YouTube.) He mentioned that he was 45 years of age old when he took on the role of James Bond.

Like a lot of the other ITC stuff, for some reason I enjoy the episodes set in Blighty more than the 'foreign' stuff, seeing the white Volvo rasping away round all those old country lanes and villages hits the spot, and the location shots around London are just great... there's hardly any traffic in most of the scenes! I agree, the location scenes on the UK-based episodes have an authentic feel. When they did episodes with foreign cars, number plates etc on UK roads around Elstree, it looks jarringly obvious. The trees are too green, the roads not dusty enough etc. I think they could get away with it in the 60s, with b&w transmission. Also, the viewers in those years had probably not travelled abroad, or seen TV pictures from abroad, to the extent that they have now.

Just been trawling through some of my NEC Classic Car Show pics taken over the last few years and realised I had these shots from 2012 of the first Volvo P1800 used in the series, restored from a complete wreck by the owner... apparently when he first went to see it in a Welsh barn he was very sceptical about it being the real McCoy, but it turned out it was the real one afterall...
