The Strange Report has become one of my favorite series of the 60s. I first discovered it when an episode was included on the Network Sweeney box set and I was hooked.
Not surprisingly, Anthony Quayle plays an excellent part as the Criminologist Adam Strange while Kaz Garas and Anneke Wills make great sidekicks. As with many of these shows, it's a huge shame they only made one series. I wonder why this was, maybe it had tough competition for ratings in America??

Yes, of course, I'd forgotten that the Strange report was an extra on the Sweeney Box Set. Time to dig it out and give it a watch again I think.
Nice one Ministrone. Thanks for the reminder
Gene.

This is one of my favourite series from the '60s with all sixteen episodes being enjoyable to watch. Some are stronger than others, but there is a certain warmth about it all the way through, more so than some other series from the same period. The North London locations used are an eye opener too. I'm sure I read somewhere that a second series was planned, but the US ratings didn't quite match up to expectations so it was dropped. Roger Webb's wonderful theme tune is a corker though, I have the soundtrack CD which I often listen to in the car. Villain

Strange Report is one of my favourite ITC shows. As you say above, Ministrone, they only made one series - originally the plan was to do another one with Adam Strange working in the US. Anneke Wills has said in recent years that she and Anthony Quayle decided to call it a day after sixteen episodes, partly because she was a young mother at the time and didn't want to re-locate to America. I didn't realise that they made 16 episodes, I have only seen the one included on The Sweeney box set which I thought was, well, strange. Of it's time I guess.

Which episode is on the Sweeney box set Steve...? Villain It's episode 8: Revenge - When A Man Hates. It features John Thaw hence its inclusion in the box set. You can watch it here:

A favorite episode is REPORT 2493: KIDNAP where Sally Geeson plays an American Heiress who fakes her own kidnapping. Sally's accent is pretty poor but it has a young Ian Ogilvy and Richard O'Sullivan as co conspirators and a blue Mini so whats not to like. Sorry, I can't find an English language version on Youtube
