It would be interesting to know how much you paid for Grandstand seats in Australia Batgirl. I have a Grandstand seat at Silverstone this year and it was £375. So looking forward to it. I went every year from 1995 to 2010. I've also been to Monaco, Spa, Hockenheim & Magny Cours. Expensive but a fantastic spectacle. Gene. All that on a DCI's wage? Got to be on the take Must've just watched GF Newman's Law & Order Steve. Nice one Gene and Batgirl, hope it roar and the passion's back this season!

Formula 1 2016 RACE CALENDAR - All races live on Sky Sports F1 Live races on Channel 4 in Bold20 March: Melbourne, Australia 3 April: Bahrain, Bahrain17 April: Shanghai, China 1 May: Sochi, Russia 15 May: Barcelona, Spain29 May: Monte Carlo, Monaco 12 June: Montreal, Canada 19 June: Baku, Azerbaijan3 July: Spielberg, Austria 10 July: Silverstone, United Kingdom24 July: Budapest, Hungary31 July: Hockenheim, Germany 28 August: Spa-Francorchamps, Belgium4 September: Monza, Italy18 September: Singapore 2 October: Sepang, Malaysia9 October: Suzuka, Japan 23 October: Austin, USA 30 October: Mexico City, Mexico13 November: Sao Paolo, Brazil 27 November: Abu Dhabi, UAE
It is quite impressive to see the schedule listed like that. It makes me realise what a pretty tough gig it is to win the championship. I'm going on race day this year (Melbourne of course) on the Sunday. Last year I went on a qualifying day but first time on the Sunday race day this year. Surprisingly the deal for two days (Sat & Sun) with a grandstand seat was only a little bit more than the race day. Maybe they have trouble filling the stands on the pre days. I was in the Schumacher stand last year and I really liked being on turn 15 as they slow down and you can see them but my son kept wanting to see the start and finish. You really cannot see that at all unless you are in a grandstand so I've selected seats in the Fangio stand so bit exciting about that. (The time I took deciding what section of the stand was really ridiculous ) I know they'll be racing past too fast to take good pics but apparently the noise should be louder this year, or so they say. BIB
The good thing with being on the Start / Finish straight is you'll get to watch all the pre-race stuff. Then you'll get to see the actual race start, which is pretty exciting, the way all the cars line up and the drivers rev their engines waiting for the red lights to go out. Depending on where your sitting you may also be able to see the pit stops. It depends what you want to get out of the race. I've sat everywhere at Silverstone, and every seat has a different view and a different piece of the action. There's really no bad place to be when you're watching F1 However, what you must do is take loads of pictures and post them on here.

There are a lot of different deals depending on what grandstand you choose and how many days you want. Most of the grandstands that have a bit of cover (usually the back rows only) are classed as Premium Grandstand and they are more expensive, as you're not stuck out in the blistering heat or being rained on. I don't have premium seats. Tickets for 2 days in the Fangio stand cost AUD$375-. www.grandprix.com.au/tickets/search#f_product_category=grandstand;f_day=Saturday%20and%20Sunday;I am very much looking forward to it. The Fangio stand is huge and I know that section E is opposite the Mercedes pits but I'm in section G (A to J in total). Section D sells extremely fast as it is on the start/finish line and is where the presentations and entertainment are focused towards. I enjoy watching the Monaco GP on tv. That would be quite amazing to have seen so many different F1 races.

Anyway, Bolly got me the ticket this time so it was on a DI's wage.

As development on the engines continues, and data is gathered on reliability, the operating envelope gets opened up. The engineers are finding ways to get more power from the engine units, the engines are being worked harder, and in turn become noisier.

Ferrari launched their 2016 car earlier today with a somewhat retro colour scheme. I have to say, I quite like it.

Yep! The W07 has been unleashed at Silverstone today and it is significantly louder.
I believe that the car was not running any where near full throttle so it should be even more impressive by the start of the season.
