Great reviews Windy & Del. That rap by Debbie Harry is a bit strange? Aliens eating cars? Can't see that having inspired NWA Are they broadcasting two episodes per week now? Rapture is a great record, although a lot of the Blondie purists don't rate it anywhere near as good as the "Parallel Lines" stuff. The first part of the song is brilliantly sung, and the rap is ok up to the "Man from Mars, eating cars" stuff and then I just lose interest as the rap seems to just go round in circles after that until the end. Fab 5 Freddie and Grandmaster Flash - both rap pioneers are mentioned in the song's lyrics. The Wu-Tang Clan, for example, do credit Blondie and this song as an inspiration, and the record did bring Hip-Hop to the masses. So maybe the likes of NWA and Public Enemy do have something to thank Debbie Harry for. I did think Rapture was a highlight of the 22/01/1981 show.

Watched both episodes over the weekend and highlights for me were Adam & the Ants, The Beat, The Specials, Bad Manners, XTC, Visage and as you say Windy Legs & Co.’s routine to Yarbrough & Peoples, Don’t Stop The Music. With one or two exceptions still a bit hit and miss and FFWD the rest esp tosh like Racey, Matchbox and your faves Windy the fooken Nolans… Be interesting to see how Visage’s progress is on TOTP and shame Blondie’s Rapture didn’t feature and at least she was down with the originators of Hip Hop like Grandmaster Flash and Fab Five Freddy, but prefer Afrika Bambaataa’s Electro take on the genre if I being honest.

Yes i remember watching the Imagine video when it hit number 1 at the time. Strange how this early part of the chart with all the Lennon re-entries was omitted from the Story of 81. There was so much going on in 81 that they must of had to edit things down to fit the hour slot. Could be a similar situation in the charts for the next few weeks with Bowie re-entries too. And rightly so.

Just caught up with the Jan 15th Videos (thanks to Windy for getting those) A few minor hits there like Susan Fassbender ? Don't remember that one at all. Interestingly tight costumes Leg and co were wearing in their turn on the Stevie Wonder number Best video by far though is the Ringo on Imagine I can't Imagine no possessions. I keep thinking about drums. Yoko's looking well too
