Did anyone catch The Chris Evans Breakfast Show this morning on radio 2? Interview with 10cc about their upcoming tour and there is a programme on tomorrow night Friday 4th BBC4 to tell the story of 'Im Not In Love' their most famous hit.
Can you believe this song is 40 years old ?
Great interview, didn't notice that none of the lyrics rhyme.

I didn't hear it but it is good to hear that their touring again. Did you hear if it was just Eric Stewart and Graham Gouldman or are Kevin Godley and Lol Creme back with them?
I was a bit of a fan of 10cc, not massively, but bought their Deceptive Bends album at the same time as buying my first record deck. Only just 16 and carrying the deck home from Laskys in Slough, tied on to the pillion of my Suzuki AP50 and the LP wedged inside the box.
Thanks Bolly for the heads-up for the BBC4 program
Sam.

Hey Alex and all 10cc Fans, In celebration of the 40th anniversary of smash hit I'm Not in Love, the original members of 10cc - Graham Gouldman, Eric Stewart, Kevin Godley and Lol Creme - reunite to tell their story. The documentary shares the secrets to some of their most successful records, from the writing and the recording to the tours and the tensions. With contributions from an impressive array of music industry legends including 10cc's band manager Harvey Lisberg, lyricist Sir Tim Rice, broadcaster Paul Gambaccini, legendary producer Trevor Horn, Stewart Copeland (the Police), Graham Nash (the Hollies) and Dan Gillespie Sells (the Feeling), not only does this film highlight the diversity of these four brilliant musicians' songwriting talent, but it also delves into the influence they had, as well as the politics beneath their acrimonious split in 1976, at the height of their fame. 10.00pm tonight, BBC Four

I watched the BBC4 documentary and enjoyed it. Many years ago I did have a "best of" vinyl LP by 10cc and Godley and Creme. They did push out several very good songs I think; my favourites are "Good morning Judge" and "I'm Mandy, fly me"

I was very interested in the documentary,I thought it was great.I have always been a 'passive' fan of 10cc,in as much as I like the singles you hear played on the radio, but I have never got round to buying any albums. That'll change now, sometimes it takes watching a programme like the one shown to open your eyes (and ears) to certain bands. There was a write up not so long ago in the 'Classic Rock' magazine about the writing and recording of 'I'm not in love' single, and it seemed that none of the members could agree on many aspects of it.They were disagreeing with whose-idea-was-who's kind of thing,so I'm not sure if there is a lot of love lost between them (or some of them:it's clear there was a major divide between Godley-Crème/Stewart-Gouldman).'I'm Not In Love' is a real masterpiece which is overlooked due to it being so familiar to the ear.A lot of work went into that recording, and what superb ideas.I liked the bit where the band said that the lead vocal, sang by Eric Stewart, was really meant just as a guide, but it fitted and sounded so perfect it was left in (the vocal is actually the first take). It's always a shame when big acts split due to musical differences, but I suppose it was very clear there were major differences in 10cc with Godley and Crème being so experimental, and it was sad hearing Graham Gouldman saying he still 'felt' the split to this very day.Peoples' feelings differ very greatly in life, and famous musicians aren't exempt.Check out Bruce Foxtons' feelings on The Jam splitting, and Paul McCartney was heartbroken on The Beatles break up.

Me & Bols watched this yesterday evening and thoroughly enjoyed it. I'm Not In Love was a masterpiece and I never get tired of hearing it - much like Bohemian Rhapsody.
Interesting to see how involved Kevin Godley was in many pop video productions.
Good show and thanks for flagging it up DI Drake.
Gene.

Totally agree with you there Guv.
I'm Not In Love was a fantastic tune but I can equally listen to I'm Mandy, Fly Me and Good Morning Judge over and over.
I didn't see the program as I was out and about so will have to see if it is on iPlayer.
Sam.
