Is nothing sacred? Allegedly the BBC are considering remakes of classic comedies being bought up to date. Porridge will feature Fletcher's grandson, also named Fletch, doing time for computer hacking. Full story 》》》 HERE 《《《Please note that there is strong language in the comments section, particularly by someone called Simon Warford! Sam

Nah,leave well alone,I say. These kind of things are done with the best of intentions no doubt, but it's like Open All Hours being re-booted,with Granville in charge.Correct me if I'm wrong, but that is pretty poor, and it's nothing to do with the great David Jason,it's just that in this day and age,in my opinion, it doesn't work. The original programmes are great, and very of their time,it doesn't work in the modern setting.
Leave well alone.

Can't see how its going to work Fletch a computer hacker with attitude in a modern prison It will end up like that Sweeney film where it would have been better to change the names because the modern era doesn't suit the old characters. How will they be able to do any jokes like those with Lukewarm ? Its going to have to be PC.

Not only Lukewarm but also McLaren and Heslop.
Yes, you can be sure that it will be fully sanitised.

There was a recent BBC3 comedy set in a young offenders institution called 'Crims', I saw bits of it & thought it was pretty good ( by BBC3 standards ). Surely shows from the 70s are only really known by the sort of people who hate the idea of them being remade? Hacking? In Porridge you don't care what the characters are inside for, the prison setting is just a means of containing the characters, like the hut in AW Pet.

No. Just..... nooooooooooooooooooo......!!!!!
There now follows an open letter to any and every TV producer on the planet who is daft enough to entertain the notion of cashing in on the former glories of our favourite classic British TV series and feature films :
''Dear Sirs,
Naff off.
Yours etc,
Villain''

As you so truly said Sam, nothing is sacred these days. Some of these people must be living on a different planet than the rest of us.

Simply put why can't these writers, producers and TV companies be original instead of recycling past successes and in turn ruining what made them special in the first place!
