I noticed the edited version on my recorder yesterday. I generally always watch the full one over the weekend. I will report back once i've viewed it. Thanks for posting the rundown Windy.

Thanks for posting Windy. Weird selection having The Dooleys and Souxsie and the Banshees on there. LOL!
Never knew Yomanda sampled that Dance Yourself Dizzy track either.

Some good stuff on this episode and some mediocre stuff.
The good : The Vapours Peter Gabriel Genesis Legs and Co
The bad. Dooley's Liquid Gold
The rest were repeats of what we have previously seen or mediocre.

A very enjoyable episode this week. It's was very 79esqe with its diverse mix of musical styles. I thought UB40 was the best act this week Hats off to good performances from ; Squeeze..... Another nail in my heart The Jam...... going Underground Shakin Stevens ..Hot Dog Martha and the Muffins.. Echo Beach There's always some rubbish to go with the cream and this week it was; :w***er: B.A Robertson .. Kaftan crap

If I was to chose one record to take to a desert island, then it would be UB40 "Food For Thought". I could play it every day and never get tired of it until the day I get rescued. I bought the UB40 album "Signing Off" on hearing this track, and it is my favourite album in my entire record collection Shame UB40 got a bit rubbish and turned to doing covers with Pato Banto I'd forgotten the Bodysnatchers were an all girl group and it was great to hear "Lets Do Rock Steady" again For all the songs by Squeeze, "Another Nail In My Heart" is IMO their best For some reason, Sad Cafe's "My Oh My" reminds me of The Velvet Underground's "Rock And Roll". I'm sure nobody else hears it, (wrong speed, wrong key) Well done to The Jam for a new entry straight to No.1 I'd have thought Mike Read would have made more about it. The BBC video effects team went large with Legs & Co's dance to "Spirit Of Radio" It could have been Dr Who in there - we'll never know. The girls were reusing the set that Martha & The Muffins used in the DLT presented show. The charts at this time are absolutely fantastic, packed full of some great music. Shakin' Stevens being the only embarrassment

Shakin' Stevens being the only embarrassment Very true Windy, goes to show how good UB40 were and could've been had they not become coffee table reggae from the mid 1980's onwards. In fact this 808 State remix (which IIRC UB40 didn't approve of) was much more interesting than the Elvis covers they were doing around this time! Some of these repeats are blowing away my memories of the 1980 music scene and I'm surprised by the wide variety of styles and age groups represented good and bad. The Good UB40, Squeeze, Martha & The Muffins and The Jam. The Bad Barbara Dickson (stick to acting in Taggart darlin'), Shakin' Stevens. The Ugly B.A. Robinson with the rest a bit indifferent IMO.
