BBC Four are showing the story of British indie over three musically diverse episodes starting this Friday ("Music For Misfits"). Afterwards, there's the story of Joy Division.
Two good programmes coming up.

BBC Four Music has made many good quality music documentaries and packages them into a nights worth of viewing(usually Fridays) for particular artist's or musical genres. This is a good shout for a thread cheers Windy.

Thanks for the heads up Windy. Knew of the BBC doing a 'indie' documentary which was coming on soon but didn't know this was this week and looking forward to it. www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b06g64wbAlso in addition to Joy Division doc which is on later on Friday there's the John Peel Lecture with Brian Eno which looks good too. www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b06f17dw

I heard a bit of the John Peel Lecture on Radio 6 last Sunday, so it's great to be able to watch it now. BBC Four this Friday is unmissable

The first edition was good. I am glad that whilst it mentioned Joy Division/New Order & Tony Wilson, the whole programme didn't revolve around them.
I thought it might detail the early independent record labels, formed when producers like Mickie Most, Jonathan King, Larry Page etc broke away from the majors. This was indeed how Pete Waterman broke into record production (with Magnet Records). But the documentary dealt with new wave onwards, which was where the 'ethos' of indie lay from the artists point of view.

Not a BBC Four Music Programme, but accessible through BBC Four or any other BBC channel by the Red button is "Sounds Of The 80s" presented by Sara Cox. Chrissie Hynde is interviewed, and the show also features a huge smattering of top 80's videos.
You may to be quick to catch this - I don't think it'll last for much longer.

Saturday 12 December 2015 @9:45pm :- Mark Radcliffe returns with another special Christmas edition of Top of the Pops 2, delivering a smorgasbord of festive delights straight from the BBC vaults.
Trawled from the depths of the BBC archive treasure chest, there are some Christmastide gems to get you in a festive mood this season, including rarely seen footage of Sir Tom Jones frolicking in the snow, a classic Top of the Pops Christmas performance from superstar Adele and Britpop legends Pulp wigging out in Christmas attire to their classic Common People.
And while you wrap your presents and write your cards, enjoy a unique performance from the much-missed late Cilla Black.
Plus it wouldn't be TOTP2 Christmas without a smattering of some perennial favourites such as Wizzard, Slade, Wham, Jona Lewie, The Pogues and Kirsty MacColl and the inimitable Shakin' Stevens!
So sit back and enjoy a festive feast of Christmas treats from Top of the Pops of Christmas Past...
We've seen Wizzard and Slade and Jona Lewie many times, but the Pulp contribution sounds interesting ...

I was 8 when Mull Of Kintyre was released and I absolutely loved that record. It was that that got me into The Beatles; someone told me that Paul McCartney was in The Beatles and I got hold of a few records and that was me hooked on all things McCartney and The Beatles. This was a live version too Thanks for the advanced warning Windy, I'd have missed that otherwise.

Cheers Steve. I've not seen that version of Depeche Mode's "I Just Can't Get Enough", so it was great to see it here. I also enjoyed seeing Pulp, and the live version of Mull of Kintyre was excellent. I'd also expected the clip for Wizard's to be that old one that we always see, so it was refreshing to watch that clip.
There's some historic TOTP stuff coming up over Christmas, so I'll post an alert on the TOTP thread for them nearer the time.
