I've seen this film twice now and still not made my mind up about it.I agree with Dirty epics review,it's really good in places but it could have been better. The character of Reg to me comes across as some romantic chap who underneath it all is a decent bloke. But really he was a control freak and didn't have a sense of humour. His character should have been darker,he never slept with his wife and was more interested in young men. Both of the Kray films have failed to really nail Reg's character and I had hoped that this latest one would. As for Ronnie, not a bad effort but again it still should have been darker.I'm sure some punters will think that they were not bad blokes really who did lots for charity and nobody took liberty's after watching this. But what I really wanted was people to be shocked,to see how nasty and evil they were.Maybe one day someone will do it,make a film that will leave a chill down your spine.I would give it 7 out of 10,not bad but could have been better!!

Here's a youtube clip of Charles Kray on Frank Skinner's show. Seems a lot friendlier than his brothers. I saw Babs Windsor on a show going on about how good looking he was in his youth comparing him to Steve McQueen, but he looks more like Rod Hull in this clip. Believe it or not (Baconballs posted this up a while ago,I've only just watched it),the feller sat next to Charlie Kray in this clip, his name was Roy Greensmith. At the time he was the Sherriff Of Nottingham-he was also a councillor for the Labour Party.Roy lived on the road I grew up on in Clifton,Nottingham (my parents still live there).Roy lived there for as long as I can remember,he was a very nice bloke. He passed away a couple of years back.Useless info.....but someone may be interested.

No such thing as useless information SC. Thanks for pointing this out.
In fact, looking at the still image on the clip above I thought the bloke sat next to Frank was Bruce Forsyth!

It was late at night, but here's what The Blind Beggar looks like today :- Pub says it has the largest beer garden in London, and they sell their own beer called Beggar's Belief.

Good picture Windy - thanks for posting it. Was the beer still OK ? It was a decent drop when I went in back in 2001.
Pictured inside the BB after doing a bit of door work with a mate while Frankie Fraser was making a documentary of some sort.

Gene, that photo's criminal That'll be Mad Frankie Fraser who's with you. Fraser worked for underworld boss Billy Hill and carried out razor attacks on his rivals. He claimed Hill paid by the stitch, so if a victim got 50 stitches Fraser would get £50.

Sounds like you had a good session in there Windy... but do they give you cider drinkers a few funny looks in darkest deepest East Lahndan mate? Nah seriously can't believe I've not got round to doing the Blind Beggar yet and Beggar's Belief sounds interesting too.

Great photo there,Gene.I've been in the Blind Beggar a good few times,it's actually a nice pub.The last time I took a trip down that way was a good few years back now,me and the missus went for a weekend in London, and we went to the East End for a few hours. We also visited the old Kray haunt The Grave Maurice, that was a real eye opener in there. It's sadly no longer there in pub form (at least I don't think it is),but wow-THAT was a real old fashioned East End boozer. It hadn't changed since the Twins' heyday. There was no real problem with me and the missus going in there though-got a few strange looks when we went in,but we sat down and had a few drinks, struck up a few conversations with some of the locals (who were perhaps a little wary of who we were/what we were doing in there),as soon as they saw that we were tourists who were interested in the old gangster thing, they were fine.A real mixture of characters in there.Seemed quite friendly, pity it's gone.Ronnie Krays' favourite pub, apparently.

Fantastic picture Gene
You've certainly met a few faces over the years, just makes me wonder how many other pictures you've got stashed away that we haven't seen yet.
