Finally, all rap/hip hop can be categorised together as utter crap, I don't even regard it as music, just noise pollution! Got to admit did like (possibly still do) the electro, old-school and instrumental styles of Hip Hop but do agree with you mate pretty much all of the 'gangsta'/R&B rap that's come is crap and can't bloody stand it being honest. A few more to add to my ‘hit’ list again no offence if you like these acts! Ed Sheeran (can’t see his appeal FFS!) Jessie J Mariah Carey Take That (****!) Britney Spears Charlie Puth (poo more like!) UB40 (after the late 80’s) Leona Lewis Megan Trainor Il Divo Michael Buble (name says it all…) Shakira Rebecca Ferguson The Corrs Most ‘Nu’ Metal acts like Linkin Park, Limp Bizkit, Blink 182 etc. etc. (just as contrived as the X Factor some of those bands!) LMFAO Rick Astley Katherine Jenkins/Charlotte Church/Hayley Westerna (pop pseudo-opera puke!) Girls Aloud/Cheryl Fernandez-Versini (or whatever she’s calling herself these days!) Daniel O’Donnell (Father Ted’s Eoin McLove was absolutely spot on!) The Saturdays (irritating) Supergrass (never liked em!) Katy Perry Westlife (aaarrrggghhh!) Madonna (borderline) 2 Unlimited, Scooter and most other Eurotrash dance acts! Lady Gaga (total image shite!) Pink Christina Aguilera Anything produced by S/A/W in the 80’s/90’s + anything/everything Heart FM (sic) plays!

I think the lists of most of the bilge above just about sums up practically everything I can't bloody well stand too!! Abba I didn't like as a kid but I think it's slightly improved with age as it reminds me of happy times in childhood sometimes. But I'd also like to add:
Kate Nash
The Nolans
Neil Diamond (was fed up of hearing his songs played on Radio 2 but Terry Wogan a lot!)
Barry Manilow
Glad to see though that many of my favourite acts didn't get in the list, so that says a lot!
I don't mind some of UB40 but can't stand Chrissie Hinds, and I was sick of hearing Chumbawumba when it was in the charts,
not to mention during 2012:
Emily Sundae (or however her name is spelt)

Most of what I dislike is already mentioned on Dirty Epic's list, particularly many artists from the late 1980s onwards. But then I am a rather old-fashioned moggy Vienna

I've already voiced many opinions on the Ashes To Ashes and Life On Mars music threads but to confirm this week's comments, I just couldn't 'get' UB40 in any shape or form.
The other group or rather the lead singer than I couldn't stand was Simply Red / Mick Hucknell. With apologies to Steve Austin I thought Fairground was their absolute worst and their only saviour was Money's Too Tight To Mention.
Moving on, at first I thought the first singles from U2 were okay-ish but after that and in particular the constant arrogance of Bono, I just can't stand listening to them anymore. Who the hell does he think he is anyway? Taking a make-up artist to court and trying to sue her over a hat? Copping the hump over another artist singing 'his' line in Do They Know Its Christmas? Get some perspective, jumped-up twat!
I have a relatively broad spread of musical taste and don't restrict to any particular genre but you can rule me out of Rap, C&W, manufactured Boy Bands, and manufactured Girl Bands!
Then I get to Nicole Sherzinger (or however she spells it). The worse thing she could have done was to accompany Lewis Hamilton to any Grand Prix. She would always be interviewed and what a whiney gob she has! Then there are the 'hilarious' adverts
Sam.

Westlife had an astonishing amount of chart success, given how bland they were. Shopping mall music, through and through. Previous artists in their vein, like The Bay City Rollers and Bros, only had 2-3 years of hits, and one or two number ones. They were minor in comparison. Dirty Epic mentioned many artists, some I agree with, others not. And some I'm just not familiar with. As hinted at generally in the thread, major artists like Elton John, Queen, U2 started off with good work but later as they became commodities (as Arthur mentions) they were less likeable without going off the boil altogether. I am not keen on Elvis or Cliff Richard overall, though they had some good form in the late 60s-early 70s when Elvis had his Memphis period, and Cliff touched on prog rock with Hank Marvin. Cartman mentioned The Eurythmics - I quite like Annie Lennox and Dave Stewart, though their music was blighted by the clunky electronic sounds of the mid 80s, 'Who's That Girl' & 'Here Comes The Rain Again' being examples of this. I preferred the more 'traditional-sounding' records they did, like 'There Must Be An Angel' and 'It's Alright (Baby's Coming Back)'. Batgirl mentioned Don McLean - I concur, I think it is his whiny voice. I possibly prefer Madonna's 'American Pie' to his. Not sure about Taylor Swift. She seems to epitomise the current mainstream, taking parts of everything from the past, and putting them into a palatable, non-threatening whole for the passive audience. I suspect that her stance against Apple, in theory a 'rock star rebellion', has a dual motive to promote her career. Good luck to her

Madonna, forgot to include her in my list, never been a big fan, possibly because she is closely associated in my mind with an era I didn't like (the mid/late 80s) She did a couple I thought were Ok at the end of the 80s, Cherish, and Dear Jessie.
Of boy bands, I find them generic and samey, two which I think are a bit better than the general run of them are Take That and, dare I say, One Direction!
Tend to agree on Elvis and Cliff Richard, Cliff did just two which I liked, Devil Woman and Miss you Nights, both within weeks of each other in 76, and I think Elvis best work was all late in his career, after his 68 TV special, which seemed to reactivate him.
Thinking about it there are quite a few tracks I like from artists I don't like, maybe a possible new thread?!
Finally, another trend seems to have emerged, attractive but annoying - Katherine Jenkins, Charlotte Church, Beyoncé, Nicole Scherzinger, The Saturdays.......
