Very sad news A fixture of a period of my childhood His version of Stir It Up is wonderful Is it possible to dislike this timeless classic.... Sad news indeed. I remember "Tears On My Pillow" from 1975. Although I didn't like it at the time it was a tune that I've grown to appreciate more over the years. From the BBC website: >>> Johnny Nash <<<R.I.P. I set up an obituary thread for Johnny Nash in obituaries and it got moved into this thread
Quick question - do we have to put ALL dead musicians in this section?
If not, what are the criteria for a separate tribute thread?

If not, what are the criteria for a separate tribute thread? This thread was a good idea of Windy's to keep all those from the music industry that have passed into a single thread. There had been numerous occasions when two members had started two separate obituary threads for the same artist causing it all to become disjointed and necessitating more moderator input to tidy them together. Now and again some slip through the net which I have now corrected such that a couple of recent obituary threads have now been merged into this one. A tribute thread for an artist is more than an obituary thread, the obituary thread is reporting the passing and allows people to pay their respect without going into depth whereas the tribute thread, whilst it acknowledges their passing, creates further discussion around their life and their work. I moved your post as it was an obituary thread acknowledging Johnny Nash's passing but anyone is welcome to start tribute threads on their favourite artists in much the same manner as Del-Boy has done for David Bowie >>> David Bowie Tribute <<<. Sam.

I think that's clear
If it's someone I felt an affinity with I err towards the tribute rather than a simple acknowledgement of their death
I'll be sure to mark any future threads "tribute" (if that's my intention), and share any notifications/acknowledgements here
Thanks again

Sad to hear that Spencer Davis passed away earlier today.
A great musician, and a great band too.
RIP Spencer.

Sad news. I've always liked Spencer's 'Keep On Running' from the sixties.
We seem to be hearing of an awful lot of musicians and singers from the golden era passing on these last few years.
RIP Spencer.
