Back to topic and another film has just come to mind: What do others that have seen it think of The Da Vinci Code from 2006? There was so much hype about the film, trains and buses vinyl wrapped in promotional material, it was everywhere and touted as being a complex, enigmatic storyline that would confuse and puzzle everyone. Annie and I went to see and I must admit that I got bored fairly early on. However, despite not paying too much attention I predicted the ending about two thirds of the way through my popcorn. Annie didn't believe me one bit as she could see I was bored. To me it just seemed that the hype was just promotional bullshit put out to elevate a mediocre film into something that it didn't deserve to be. Sam. That pretty much sums up my opinions of it too. I never understood the bloody trailer!
Certain cinemas did quite well with it.
A friends Cinema in Nottingham had the film when it was released - and was expected to show it for two weeks; with the 2nd week in his smaller "Shit films only" 50 seat screen. He ended up playing the film for 4 weeks in one of the slightly larger 150seat Screens.... someone must have got it!
Was the Church up in arms about it, and wanted it banning? Or am I mixed up with something else?

Yes, they did have something to say about it.

Even a reputable name such as "Warner Bros" have put their name to it.
What angers me is how the hell these films get made in the first place - ie someone "pitches" the idea to a Studio Exec/Producer. That Producer / Exec will happily go "Hey that's a great idea, here's some money. Now go make the movie".
Given the amount of scripts, pitches and formats Studio Execs and Producers receive on a weekly basis - most of them are chucked aside and forgotten about - then tripe like this slips through and gets made.
I suppose someone must have enjoyed it for it get made in the first place.

I tried to watch the Professor (Johnny Depp) the other week - seriously hard watching (and needless to say I fell asleep) has to be the worst film I've seen in a while. www.imdb.com/title/tt6865690/ Avoid it is my best advice ;-)

What about the worst film you've never seen ( & never will )? 'One Chance', the film of 'Britain's Got Talent' winner Paul Potts starring James Corden as Paul Potts, no chance of me watching that.

Corden has no place on my TV either Arth. Good call. Gene. Same with our TV too.
It has a "Corden Filter" fitted - just a switch that either Mutes the sound, switches over of off!

Get yerself a new box Sparky. Ours is far more advanced than that. It does away with the mute option so I don't even have to see his smug boat race.

I'm not that keen on Corden but he's Mr Personality compared to Russell "I'm a twat" Brand.
Not only does my TV block him, it also cancels my TV licence and melts down so there's no chance of catching his "punch me" face.
