Remembering seeing this film on cinema release. One of the few instances where the film spin-off compares very favourably to the series.

How true Stan. Many 70's TV film spin off/cash in's were not as good as the series that spawned them but are still worth a watch.
A few of the better ones for me were : The On The Buses films Steptoe & Son films Porridge Sweeney 2
Biggest let down was : Are You Being Served - This film starts ok but gets lost and has an awful ending. Sweeney! - Filmed at the height of the tv series success, someone thought it would be a good idea to have a politically based borefest in which Jack spends half of it suspended therefore losing the team dynamics of the squad. Thankfully Sweeney 2 was a better attempt, however I feel the films never equalled the series and it was a missed opportunity to embellish The Sweeney and was possibly responsible for shortening the tv series life.

Not forgetting The Likely Lads Del. Not sure how you'd rate that one but I like it if nothing else for having a feature length version of Bob & Terry.

I watched the Man About The House series a few months ago on ITV 3 for the first time in years, and I enjoyed it a lot better this time around. It's strange but I enjoy a lot of old TV shows now, much more than I did years ago, maybe it's all the new rubbish they put on for us now, making some of us realize how good these programs really were. I will definately watch the film on YouTube, as you say it will be nice seeing bits of West London as it was in the seventies. Pity though, that Richard's career finished so early due to ill health. I hope he's doing okay these days.
