Notice that Bewes has 'from the Likely Lads' next to his name on the flyer. The issue of betrayal aside, it's probable that Bolam's estrangement from Bewes has also to do with wanting distance from a show & a role that Bewes seems not to have escaped from, either by choice or by professional necessity ( ie. Bewes feels he still needs the Likely Lads moniker as a reminder to his audience of who he is ). Bolam clearly doesn't want or need to be associated with a show he did many years ago. I'm sure interviewers only bring up the subject of them not talking because Bewes has made it into an issue, when really he ought to have accepted Bolam's position & got on with his own career.

Indeed Arthur. It is interesting to note that in that interview Bewes mentions he'd like to do the Likely Lads again now, as pensioners. It is also interesting to hear him say that anyone not wishing to be reminded of the show is in need of a "swift kick"
I've lost count of the number of letters I've written to Bewes over the years regarding not only The Likely Lads, but also Spring & Port Wine in which he appeared. Every letter I sent included a stamped addressed envelope for a reply from him and maybe even a signed photo. Not once has he replied.
Bolam replied at the first attempt (as I mentioned earlier in this thread)

Great work by Gene of these pics. The quality of Clement & La Frenais scripts extended into the film and also the 45 min Christmas Special. Top notch series. Very true Stan coming from a recent convert to the series. Kind of makes Clement and La Frenais involvement with AWP S3-4 and 'The Special' (sic) all the more painful when you know what they're capable of.

There's no excuse for continually failing to reply if you've been given a SAE, even if it's just an autograph on a blank piece of paper. Rare tv appearance from James Bolam & his wife Susan Jameson on Celebrity Antiques Road Trip in 2014, it's on BBC iplayer if anyone wants to see it. "James Bolam and Susan Jameson hunt for antiques in Sussex with experts David Harper and James Braxton. They also discover a 170-year-old brewing tradition and a dodo collection"...that's dodo collection www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b04jtthr

I did chase it up with his agent and was dismissively told "The letters were passed on to him. It is up to him if he chooses not to reply." They also discover a 170-year-old brewing tradition and a dodo collection"...that's dodo collection Thanks for the clarification Arthur. It will save The Saint chipping in with his expertise.

Just reading in the property section of a paper this week.
Stephenson Road in north London is referred to as a location for The Likely Lads (and The Ipcress File).
Interested to know which series / film this relates to?
Cheers,
Stan

Stephenson STREET was used in the pop video of "Our House" by Madness, but I'm at a loss as to how and when this was used in any Likely Lads episodes. Certainly can't place it in the film. It is a narrow street, with terraced houses on one side - reminiscent of the Get Carter location of The Las Vegas.

This video regards 'The Likely Lads' rather than 'Whatever Happened To...' & it isn't very seasonal but thought it might be of interest. Christmas Night With The Stars from 1964 featuring The Likely Lads who are introduced by Dixon of Dock Green at about 26 mins in-
