I’ve just got round to rewatching this one and, yes, it is below par, as suggested. A few decent bits of dialogue here and there with Jack and George, but it is a bit dull, and the plot doesn’t make a massive amount of sense either. One of the last batch, I would guess with the mark 2 Granada and the leaves just starting on the trees, spring 78?

Cartman, production on S4 was completed in mid May with the filming of Hearts and Minds, so I would suggest April '78 for this episode.

I like Braithwaite's line "I won't break the rules to lose Jack" or something similar
Now thats practical advice!

But this episode is probably the one of the poorest Sweeney episodes of all Alby

You wouldn't make a good gynecologist Albert There's some nice humour in this episode such as when Carter introduces himself in a suave accent to Christobel Delgado, 'Signorina may I introduce myself, Detective Sergeant George Hamilton Carter of Scotland Yard's Flying Squad...Christobel, what a lovely name' then turns to Regan and, in his usual voice, says 'That geezer from the scrape clinic'
This episode & a Dixon Of Dock Green episode oddly both feature onion sellers

Caught this episode recently, having not seen it for a number of years. All in all not a bad episode. I thought the idea of this woman selling these guys down the river so she could cop the lot was a decent one and made for an ok story.
The thing that did spring to mind, given the times we live in, was Regan would be in deep shit if he slept with a woman who was not only caught up in the case but was within 24 hours being arrested for the crime. I reckon Jack would get his cards if he did that in 2020 and the suspect would have a decent chance of getting away with it based on some pin striped smart arse lawyer using the entrapment line.
