This is the one where George goes out with the commanders secretary and tries to get her to look at his promotion results, thereby risking her job, then flies off the handle at her when she refuses. The darker side of the character I think. Yes, it was a bit naughty of him to do that, wasn't it? I thought she wasn't really George's type anyway. She seemed far too middle class for him and the relationship wouldn't have lasted

Spot on. That was never going to work. More suitable for Hargreaves although about as much chance of him putting it about as Tottenham winning the league.

Just watched this episode and really enjoyed it
The two factions vying for the dead villain's crime empire - with some great gangster performances
George trying to get a promotion and buy a house
Hywell Bennet dipping his toe into the world of crime
The bent brief
And all with a great finale at the end
None of it makes a huge amount of sense but who cares?

Yes Sweet Smell, is one of the best Sweeney episodes IMHO and one of my personal favourites.
Tarley as a character was brilliant!

Some great humour in this episode, particularly when Regan tells Carter that if he'd got promotion he would be probably be doing things like "guarding the mayor's chain and nicking the local poof outside the recreation ground toilets"

Yes, most likely an LGBT person, 3L. Rupert certainly wouldn't approve, whatever!

Sue Lloyd (Arlene Baker) spotted out on the Embankment in 1967 some 9 years before starring in The Sweeney: Gene.

Blimey Sue Lloyd looked better as Arlene than in that pic. Great find Gene.
