Started my Christmas (well almost) Sweeney episode watching with May last night. You can sense the heat of the summer of '76 in some of the scenes and notice the parched grass around Wimbledon Common. I remember Karl Howman more as Jacko from Brush Strokes. Do you think some of the production company were fans of 70's American cars, not for the first time we had a Yank boat in an episode. The AMC AMX - not being around London in the mid 70's I wonder were US imports common or were or rare as they are now? In a number of 70's shows they seem to use them as car of choice when people had money. Never thought cars that size suited UK roads, parking spaces etc.

In a lot of old shows of the era it always seemed to be a crime boss who had the large American motor.

I quite agree, as good as Karl is in this episode, to me he will always be Jacko from Brush Strokes.
