Sadly no Charles. His last job was actually on Life On Mars. He passed away in 2006.

The director of this & 4 other of the best Sweeney episodes ( Ringer, Stoppo Driver, MOTG, Chalk & Cheese ) Terry Green died in 2013. He was a good friend of Dennis Waterman's, Green wrote & directed the Chicago set film 'Cold Justice' which Waterman starred in ( as a priest ) & co produced. I think Waterman's plan was to make more self produced films but Cold Justice was not a success. They also collaborated on a book about the East End, 'Dennis Waterman In The East End'. Below is a photo of Terry Green ( on the left, producer Ross Cameron on the right ) & some info on 'Cold Justice' from a biography of it's co-star Roger Daltrey. A bit off topic sorry, but I thought it would be of interest. I looked at Billy Medhurst actor Anthony Heaton's imdb page earlier on, one of his credits is playing a copper in an episode of George & Mildred which is currently showing on ITV3 & I try to watch it most evenings, I switched it on just now & the very moment I turned it on there was Anthony Heaton in a copper's uniform.

Great pics again,Arthur.Noticed that in some of the pics Medhurst has his jacket off, then has it on in others-but seems like the same fight scene with George.Wonder if they did a couple of takes at the opening fight scene?

That's right, Medhurst has his jacket on throughout the finished scene. I'd guess that the smudges where Medhurst isn't wearing his jacket were taken during a run through of the scene, same with the Taste Of Fear smudges with Dennis wearing bins.

I remember reading a newspaper article in the nineties, about the film "Cold Justice" I think Dennis lost a fair bit of money on it. I wouldn't mind mind getting hold of a copy of that book of his about the East End.

I watched this one last night and another very strong episode. Filmed in my favourite summer, 1976, you can sense the summer heat with the blue skies and burnt grass. Some great action shots out and about in London, I loved that fantastic breakdown wagon which had been converted from a late 50s American Ford, which was used to pull the doors off the back of the Transit when Medhurst was sprung

There's so many interesting strands in this story- the slippery lawyer, the back story of the disabled policeman (and his wife's infidelity), the dream like recall of Eddie Jackson's shooting, Regan's guilt, it's just so well put together from a technical and plot angle. Anthony Heaton and Maureen Sweeney are great as the Medhurst's, and as Cartman says the back drop of the drought gives it an added visual appeal (retrospectively). And of course Johnny Shannon as the night club grass just gives the story another shine, and is typical Sweeney in so much as the casting and attention to detail shown to supporting characters. This episode goes all the way up to eleven :D
