Interesting find Arthur thanks for posting. It's a good way to garner new characters, an in joke for the writers I suppose . As the Squad have previously noticed a lot of the characters in The Sweeney share names with roads within the local vicinity of the Euston base in Hammersmith. Titus Oats sounds a bit out of place to me but possible but Colly Kibber works great as a villains name in 1970's London

Great discovery Arthur. I've always thought the choice of names to be very unusual but had no idea there was a background to them. Very interesting reading indeed!
Thanks.
Gene.

Had a look & the book is 'One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest', I recognise it as I've got a copy with the same cover.

One of my favourite episodes this one. Titus Oates, incidentally, was the name of a conspirator in a plot to overthrow King Charles II in the 1670s.

I think the version I watched (seen it a few times) has suffered from savage TV editing.
I cannot connect how Regan and Carter suddenly turn up knocking on the bankers house (Maureen Lipman joins them).
I kept rewinding the episode looking for dialogue to link / explain how/why they got there but no they just randomly turn up.
Anyone join the dots for me?

Jim Cheese, it was the discussed during the target conference meeting when Carter said they'd found out there were 6 fish vans and had narrowed it down to one area and he was checking the playgroups for someone who worked in a bank and had a car. Kibber's notes taken fromprison referred to fish van, playgroup and bank so Carter did a little digging and bob's your uncle. Hope that helps

I like the ending.
"A massive defeat for the forces of law and order, wouldn't you say guv!"
Followed by the slow panning shot to the squad Consul and what sounds like a real LBC announcer reporting another bank heist and Jack and Bill exchange tired looks!
