I can't remember where i read this. I thought it might've been the Pat Gilbert book, but i had a scan through and couldn't see it.

Clip from an 80's repeat on Border.
Clip from a 1984 repeat on Thames. Funnily enough the trailer for an episode of 'Quincy' has a familiar Sweeney library track playing in the background.

These are great Arthur and take me right back. Border TV was my local station. The music on Quincy is Flying Squad by Brian Bennett, used in Cover Story.

Re tv cuts, I recently compared the running times of a series ( not The Sweeney ) recorded from tv with the dvd version, when added together there was nearly 30 minutes missing from the 6 episodes. I think ITV4 chop around 6-8 minutes out of the episodes. Yes.
I caught the episode with George Sewell / Edward Peel on Tuesday on ITV4; there were bits here and there missing. That'd be to account for the myriad of ad breaks and sponsorship promos.

Edward Peel's currently showing up in the London's Burning repeats on Drama at the moment. Didn't he pop up in Juliet Bravo too?

Always seemed a bit slow going; and each weeks script being littered with the same old "What the parents teach kids these days" - "No respect these kids" etc.
London's Burning I thought, at first was pretty good. It's later on where they were spending way too much time with stories about life at home and outside the station; that I think, became a bit of a drag. Somewhere down the line, possibly with the introduction of new Producers - they kind of lost that balance of the Fire Station / Set piece of a Fire, and a bit of life at home. It went the opposite - with more emphasis on the home life. The Fire Fighting to me seemed to be less emphasised.

I remember watching Juliet Bravo as a kid and seeing Edward Peel in it. I think his character was dating Kate Longton. He also played 2 different characters in Emmerdale.

I'll bet Regan and Carter would have wished they could do what Galloway and Roach did here in this thrilling clip from an excellent episode of The Bill called Hostage from series 2. Easily one of the best ever episodes.
