Sad news indeed. Michael was regarded as the best in his field and I have to say I concur. I saw a program on Gold not so long ago which was a compilation of some of his most iconic interviews. It was a really good watch even though I've seen most of them before. Rod Hull and Emu is my top pick for the sheer mayhem of his more serious interviews there are so many great ones that spring to mind that its hard to choose a favourite from.

A real legend and great loss. He was rightly commended for his style in letting the guest talk and I’m sure I remember reading somewhere that he said you need to listen, then listen again. What he meant was that if you ask a question and the guest provides a response, don’t then immediately interject and move onto another question.
Instead, pause and let the guest add to their original reply. What then happens is the guest puts more meat on the bones of their original response and it’s invariably the meat that provides much more insight, depth and interesting information. There’s a few chat show hosts today who could take that advice. Less quizzing ends up being more.

Sad news. A real legend of the chat show, the stand-out one for me has to be the show in which he had Muhammad Ali and Freddy Starr on together. R.I.P. Parky
