A few days late with this but pleased to announce that Friday was the eighth anniversary of the formation of 4:3TV - The Retro Forum. Eight years! Where has that time gone? The forum itself continues to be a great success with a fantastic bunch of members, all like-minded individuals albeit from differing walks of life contributing together to make this forum such a varied and considerate corner of the web. Not many other forums can boast such a helpful or considerate bunch. We are now also approaching our 14th meet, this time back on the hallowed turf of Hammersmith but it is only due to the extensive range of TV and films that we cover that have enabled us to travel around the country taking in many towns and cities to cover these other films and TV series - and all due to Gene's mastery at drafting the meets together thanks to his attention to detail and meticulous planning with the locations and routes. The UK has seen some significant changes in these past years but one thing's for certain, 4:3TV has not succumbed to change and will continue to ensure we all enjoy our corner of the web. Sam.

It is an outstandingly great forum. So much of interest, a huge range and depth of knowledge and it's a great source of reference. The admins and members are brilliant, and I love it

Wow! That 8 years has certainly gone fast and has seen this amazing forum go from strength to strength. As Sam said, not many forums can boast such a considerate or helpful bunch. I have joined a few different forums in the past and either deleted my account or just not bothered to Log In again after a very short time after realising that they are frequented by "idiots." 43TV is the best forum on the net by far. Here's to many more years of interesting posts/banter and the great friendships that have formed as a result of the forum. Thanks to all the admins for their hard work in maintaining the forum and thanks to all the members who collectively make it the great place that it is to visit Steed

I still say my biggest regret was not discovering the forum back in 2015. Thanks to everyone for all they do and especially to the hardworking admin and mod team.

Where has 8 years gone? Well they do say that time flies when you are enjoying yourself! Huge thanks are due to our guvnor Gene for all the time and effort he puts in on here, much of it of a technical nature that goes unseen, not to forget the legendary meets that he organises twice a year which really bring the forum to life in the real world Thanks also to Sam and Del Boy for their work and contributions And last, but not least, thanks to all members for their insightful contributions over the years, I am proud to say many of you have become good friends too Here’s to the next 8 years and beyond! The Saint

Has it really been 8 years?!! Well I for one am pleased to have been a member of this forum for all of that time, and so great to know so many knowledgeable people with the same interests.
Echoing what others have said, a big hand as always to the Guv and the Moderators (Sam and Del and anyone else I've forgotten) and for the members that post, for making the forum what it is and the work that goes on behind the scenes with the technical updates, research of the productions and locations used which of course we see on the great meets that the Guv organises. The time in doing so is much appreciated by all of us! As a result I've had the opportunity to visit some parts of the country I've not visited before whether near or far and they are always looked forward too.
The great company at the meets is the other thing that draws me to them, but we wouldn't have those if we didn't have the forum in the first place so thanks again Gene and everyone else for contributing no matter how big or small. Here's to many more years!

Many, many thanks to Gene, Sam and Del and anyone elese that had a hand in bringing this fantastic forum alive and I chose that adjective carefully. It lives and breathes and grows and matures and brings us together in an ethereal and physical way via interaction online and through the wonderful meets that are drawn up by Gene.
Looking forward in the short term to the next meet and continuing to learn about all that is retro in the long term.

8 years have just flown by. I know Sam will recall our early chats regarding what we wanted to do with 4:3tv from the off and we have stuck to our guns in order to not only maintain the forum but also encourage it to continually grow as it has. It is absolutely remarkable and has certainly exceeded our expectations in all departments but that isn't just down to the level of input behind the scenes. It has so much to do with our incredible members who log in on a regular basis - not only to acknowledge a post that they have read, but to also take the time to type a thoughtful, useful and knowledgeable post that we all find so interesting. For sure, we have had a few people who have joined simply to get at the sections that are for active members only but once they have gone through the process of joining, they quickly realise that certain sections remain hidden until they attain a certain post count themselves. Then it becomes clear that they never meant to contribute here as they don't bother logging in again. These accounts are dealt with the same way that we dealt with them on day 1. They are deleted and prevented from rejoining in the future. Sam & I have seen it all before. Forums with memberships in the tens of thousands but only a dozen or so of those actually post. We aren't interested in presenting such a false front. No. We'd much sooner have the membership base we do have because we know a very significant number of our members keep coming back to add to the unbelievable wealth of information we already have. So thank you to each and every one of you for making 4:3tv the best resource for all things retro anywhere to be found and also for making it the friendliest corner of the web I've ever had the pleasure to be part of. Here's to the next milestone. Gene.

Blimey! Is it really eight years ago now since this forum started? Time really does fly by too quickly. I am so pleased to hear that the forum continues to be successful and still has many great contributing members who post regularly about great music, TV and films that many of us enjoyed at the time and still do. It also seems such a friendly forum compared to many others you can join and participate in on the web. Of course it is the regular 4:3tv meets that help make it so enjoyable, and it is always great to meet up with everyone at least a couple of times a year. Many thanks to Gene for all his hard work behind-the-scenes keeping the forum running and for organising the very successful meets. Thanks also to Sam, Del and The Saint for their efforts too, plus all participating members who continue to make 4:3TV the number one retro forum! Cheers Vi
