The last two races have been a snooze fest. The razzmatazz around the paddock in Miami was ridiculous. I can't watch that Netflix rubbish that is a big part of all this off track showbiz circus. Come back Bernie Eccleston I liked the first few series of the netflix series of 'Drive to Survive'. I was looking forward to watching last year's presentation but I was very disappointed in it. I'd prefer less production values and less storyline objectives and more just film what they witness! I liked the early series learning about Carlos Sainz's family etc. I've only followed F1 since 2013 so I didn't know that Carlos' Dad was an F1 legend so it is good to learn that type of history.
I love Dan Ricciardo but his playing up to the netflix cameras drives me crazy. I only watched two episodes Of Drive To Survive and it wasn't for me. I have read there's been issues in the past with editing to make things said by drivers look a certain way. It's connection with F1 is generating the new breed of fan. The showbiz kind of changes around the paddock in Miami seemed to be aimed at that market.

Monaco I enjoyed the race yesterday as you always felt someone was going to crash. There were a few incidents in the first phase of the race. Sainz got it wrong and got away with a damaged front wing and got a lenient penalty of just a warning. Stroll seemed to try and poke the car into gaps that were never on and was lucky not to have his race ended from the resulting clashes. The predicted rain came in earlier than the teams initially thought it would on lap 51. This really spiced things up and I was on the edge of my seat. Great skill was on show by all of the field as one part of the circuit was soaked, some were on 50 lap tyres and the debate was whether to go for inters then wets. As things played out I was hoping for an Alonso victory. Shame it didn't happen. Here's hoping for more rain this season

Spain I would love to see an Alonso win here. That would be a great achievement and a very popular one.

I hope so too Del but Fernando will have to hope Max & Checo/the RB's have a serious issue to have a hope of getting near them, but could happen. You did a good review of Monaco too mate both Alonso (strategy compromised) and Ocon did well and Alonso were best of the rest but it levels the playing field and on a normal race/circuit the Red Bull's are gone if all goes to plan. Alonso, Hamilton, Russell Leclerc would be in a similar position to Max in the RB19 but Alonso has done a brilliant job this season all things considered and Stroll is bloody awful at the moment too surely he should be turning out decent finishes? Here's hoping Barca is a good race even if Max/the Bull's win there's plenty in the midfield to be hopeful about even if it's scraps right now.

Spain 🇪🇸
Circuit de Catalunya rarely serves up one of the better races of the season and 2023 was no different. There was more overtaking here than in years gone by but overall the demands of this high deg circuit mean tyre management is the major priority. Different compounds used over the two stops provided some interest but Verstappen winning here was never really in doubt. Norris's first lap mishap was a shame and it aidied the German marque as they put in a strong showing in their own right. Mercedes look to have taken a big step with thier upgrades package. The lack of pace from Ferrari and Aston in comparison was the bigger surprise. Tsunoda was dealt a rather harsh penalty at the end of the race dropping him out of the points. And not too much else went on here. Rain would have helped immensely but the only drop of it managed to fall inside Russell's lid.
On to Canada 🇨🇦

Jesus, not another sprint race? It is getting a bit too "Jeux Sans Frontières" for me, it is only a matter of time before Eddie Waring appears when Christian Horner plays his Joker round and Arthur Ellis checks the fuel level with his dipstick. Sam.

Sam. This hasn't really worked has it, I think as good/bad the original format is keep it that way rather than increasing these sprints which don't really change things for the dominant teams and drivers. Let's see what the real race brings later on!
