One of the top episodes of all four series. Btw, Villain, if you look closely when the blag is going down near the end, a Western diesel hydraulic passes the factory! I know Cartman, I noticed it the first time I saw it in '75 as I was chasing them at the time, as a mere nipper..! The location was Southall Gasworks Villain

This would be a fantastic episode to watch on the big screen. I'd pick this along with Ringer, Stoppo Driver, Thou Shalt Not Kill!, Taste Of Fear, On The Run and Nightmare. A few years ago, I went to my brother in law's place and he had a large cinema screen in his living room on which we watched a few recent movies in HD. I also helped myself to watching some Sweeney and Special Branch eps which wasn't a bad thing.

A brilliant episode, Colin Welland is fabulous in this. My favourite scene is the one where Tober has been nicked and he requests to use the phone to call mates who'll look after his daughter, and protect her....only for Regan to push the receiver down as Tober has almost finished dialling...."I know what a deal entails, Mr. Regan. Names, dates, places, you name it".... and Regan nods, just the once, and then let's Tober dial again. I always found the two actors there extremely realistic.
Also, reading back on the thread, Gene, lovely thought that Colin Welland was a nice feller too. God bless.

Some memorable hardboiled dialogue in this episode-
Evil Willie- 'I've fought the army, Tober, in the emerald isle'. 'Maybe I've even fought you' Tober- 'No sonny, if you had we'd have been doing business via the spiritualists'
Ingram- 'I'm looking for Earlsfield Rd, they said it was close to the cemetery' Tober- 'We're all close to that, kid'
'Then that's your Wagnerian funeral Heinrich, don't expect me to sit in the bunker till we're down to the last cartridge'

That one about the spiritualists is my favourite.

Another one in the white van during the pre titles sequence chase!
"One of these days, you's Krauts are going to know how to used that adrenalin!!"
And whilst in the junk shop hideout: "You get right up my nose Heinrich! Doc Boyd's a mate of mine! A mucker!"

Maybe I've said this before but always liked the scene where Tober knocks the **** out of Jake and Evil Willie. Colin Welland played that like a true hard man someone who could handle himself no matter what and would kill The German if he wasn't under duress to do the job with them.

Yes he dispatches them with ease & there's a massive thud when Willie gets kicked. Hope the kitten got out of the way.

Don't worry Arthur Tober was a animal lover!
