I am very saddened to hear this Gene, I can’t begin to imagine how upsetting this has been for you and your family to have been robbed by these scum, it’s fortunate that you weren’t aware at the time as a confrontation could have escalated out of control very quickly. I hope that with the passing of time you and your family will be able to put this terrible event behind you and fully relax again in your own home. The attitude of the police is unforgivable, I bet they would have been keen to knock on that door had you been complaining that you had been offended by someone on Twitter!
Bernie and Pauline are lovely people and I am glad to hear that Pauline is recovering, I know you will pass on all of our best wishes to them.

OMG that is horrendous! I am so sorry to hear that this despicable act has occurred at your family home Gene. What scum those people are.
What a relief that those mongrels didn't venture upstairs or disturb any of you sleeping. I know you've said you would have wanted to stop them (of course) but who knows if they carried knives or weapons with them and your lives and health of you and your family could have been in danger.
I too would have thought that having a GPS signal of where the car was sitting would have been enough for an officer to knock on the door to make enquiries. Flipping heck you had excellent security and tracking on the car. You did everything possible. I think police in Australia would be similar to your experience. We even have a non urgent online form or phone number for thefts, described as 'if you don't need the sirens' so I don't think we would even be able to get the police to turn up at the door for such a break in.
The injustice of it must be so aggravating to you and your wife. I am so sorry that they managed to take your dear Audi Quattro.
I hope that insurance cover will pay you far more than needed and you can take time to think about what you want to purchase if time allows.
When something happens like this, apart from anger at the injustice of the situation and the police lack of help, sometimes you can feel like you are on 'super alert' for a while as if your senses are needing to be ready and aware of the smallest noise and sound around the home and getting up to check on noises might feel like part of your night routine. (Speaking from experience on that and I write this not as an expert in any way. I think it just helped me when I realised that it is a normal response mode). A lot of different emotions that we don't have control over are a coping way for the mind to move through and past the experience.
If you and your family are feeling this, it is a very normal way that we all react to such things and it will subside as time goes on.
You will get to feeling relaxed in your home again. It is always good to talk about it.
Again I am so sorry for you and your family experiencing this. You've all been through a lot.

So sorry to hear about your ordeal last week Gene. The response from the police to your Break in is absolutely disgraceful, although apparently that is what they're like these days. Its quite possible that the perpetrators might have been carrying knifes and might well have attempted to harm you or your family last week if they'd been disturbed while committing their vile and low crime, robbing people who've worked for what they have. People caught after carrying out burglaries especially when the occupants are present should face long hard prison sentences.
I told my daughter about what happened to you and she reminded me of some family friends of ours who went through a similar ordeal a month ago. One of the burglars weilding a machete telling the couple to stay in bed till they'd gone.
Dreadfully sorry to hear that your lovely car has been taken. This type of crime is the absolute pits.
Charles.

So very sorry to hear that Pauline was taken ill so soon after the recent meet in Bolton. Pauline and Bernie are a delightful couple and it was a privilege to meet them. I hope and pray she makes a good recovery and in time will be out and about again.
Please send Bernie my sincere best wishes for Paulines recovery and also for his own continued health and well being.
Charles.

Gene, it is absolutely shocking to hear this awful news and so upsetting for you and your family to experience it too. The police response to it seems unbelievable! I hope you can get through this shocking ordeal as it will no doubt take a bit of time to do so.
Sad news also to hear that Bernie's wife Pauline has been unwell recently. I hope she will make a full recovery very soon...
Take care
