A very strong episode this one I always thought. Good drama I thought and well acted.

I like that scene and the episode in general. I always took the lisynching to be a little intentional directorial flourish.... Frankie Little is a career criminal, knows the drill inside out and is cocking a snoot at the authority figure....today, he'd be rolling his eyes!

Only an hour ago I was looking at a youtube clip of Roy Kinnear in a forgotten sitcom called 'The Clairvoyant'. Very odd then to read Albert's comment about him mouthing the copper's dialogue as if he knew what was coming, especially as it's in 'I Want The Man' & not 'Chalk And Cheese'

A very strong episode this one I always thought. Good drama I thought and well acted. Agreed. One of my favourites. It's got the lot: pathos, grit, human interest, class and privilege, entitlement, and an all too plausible story to anchor it all down.
I appreciate the nods to other stories - the modern day highwaymen motif as Tommy and Giles target the wealthy travelling to or from a night out, and the reference to On The Waterfront, as Pop mourning his dead son, cries he could have been a contender.
When I was a young pup I really fancied Lesley Anne Down. That said, never mess with a posh bird though, the toffs will always screw you over.

Chalk & Cheese is one of my favourite episodes too. I like David Lodge, I think he was a good actor and played the part of Pop well. Another role of his which stands out in my mind is the landlord of the pub in Carry on Behind. Does anyone find that Giles Nunn resembles Charlie Boorman ? I always think of him when I watch this episode

🤣 Good spot Arthur I can assure you it was intended for I want the man thread. I just got a little over excited. 🤣

Just catching the repeat on ITV 4 - hadn't really notice before, but when Tommy slaps Caroline on the face, looks like he made contact! Her cheek looked very red straight after. Wonder if that was planned?
