I wasn't aware it was shown on the TV Heaven season. Mind you, I missed quite a few of them - I managed to catch bits from 1970, 1976 and 1978.
I think it was the 1978 one that featured a batch of adverts - and Dennis Waterman doing an Oxo ad.

Think that might be the same for me as I don't remember it being on once the main series was on or in the years after it.

Philip Schofield did a series on BBC1 called "Televisions Greatest Hits" around 1992 - and would look at TV ratings and clips from a specific year. They did feature 1975 as one year, and showed clips of the "Sweeney". Can't recall if they did 1974.
How long was Armchair Cinema (as a series) on TV for? I don't remember it on at the end of the 70s.

That’s the same for me too Arthur I had not seen Regan again until I bought The Sweeney box-set in 2009. I always thought Regan feels older than series 1 of The Sweeney even though they were both made in 1974, maybe it’s the use of older motors in Regan. The Saint

The Saint I always thought Regan "felt" older too.
It wasn't just me!
It's pace was also a lot slower than the TV series - I felt Regan was much closer to the pace of "Get Carter". The titles started that!
In "Regan" - Regan as a character seemed very slightly different too (to me) - he even wore a Cravat in Regan - perhaps then included as a hint to Mr Regan having Artistic leaning. The Cravat had gone by S1!
Replacing the Laker character was also a good decision too - bringing in Garfield Morgan as Haskins created some great chemistry between all three. I'm glad they gave the DCI character more to do in the series - than just have him there for someone for Regan to bawl at.

I recall seeing Regan for the first time on BBC2 as part of a tribute for Thames Television (I think). My introduction to the series proper was on channel 5 circa 1997, I believe it was that channels biggest rating at that time.

Love the way that TV was filmed on the streets in those days while real life was still going on. Something that in the modern PC world would never happen.
Made for a more realistic feel

Love the way that TV was filmed on the streets in those days while real life was still going on. Something that in the modern PC world would never happen. Made for a more realistic feel It does still go on to some extent!
They shot some of the Sweeney dialogue - where Jack & George are amongst a crowd in a street - using radio mics and a camera hidden in the back of a transit van.
The stuff in the moving cars was shot using Car rigs, where the camera would be attached to the side or front of the car - and they would stick the sound recordest in the boot - go for a drive and do their dialogue. They didn't seem to do much using low loader trailers, where the car is put on the trailer with all the lights/camera and a handful of crew, and it then towed.
These days, when they shoot on public streets, it isn't often they corden mass areas off. Local Police and Council want to keep stuff open as much as possible. So usually, equipment is bollarded and guarded by Runners, and there is a small corden around the area, but members of the public will wander by and go about their business. And at times can be a pain in the A*se as they tend to get in the way with their mobile phones....
Only when stunts and Fx are being shot will it all be totally closed off - and that usually is on private property too.
