I watched my Blu Ray of Regan at the weekend, great to see it again - probably 6 or so years since I last watched it - Re-found memories ignited by this great forum! - Thanks!
Got me wondering about how Regan met Annie (Maureen Lipman) - Anyone like to hazard a guess at a suggestion? - She clearly likes to do his shirts and smalls!
Agree with the comments above in this thread about how you can see why they commissioned a series - and how the locations and the London 'grubby' areas add to the mystique and imagination.
Top watching!

Top watching! I thought Regan had a thing for the odd Air Hostess? (Wasn't that angle in the opening 'Ringer'?)
As for meeting Annie in 'Regan', wasn't she supposed to work as a Makeup/Wardrobe artist at a "Glamour Film" studio? Them kind of places tended to have Criminal links to gangs through financing. So perhaps while out doing the rounds on an investigation he bumped into her?
Besides -it's unknown how long Regan had been with Annie. Don't forget, Regan is supposed to been in and out of Divisional CID prior to joining the "Squad".

IIRC wasn't Kate one before she hooked up witb Jack and there were Jack and George's attempts at pulling Sally in Sweeney! and the on the Malta flight in Sweeney 2 too.

Terry McCann was one for flight attendants as well, his most regular bird was one, in fact in the Minder novel it's stated that his ambition is to bed a Pan Am one.
Jack tended to punch above his weight, rather like Dennis in Auf W Pet. I think the writers gave them girlfriends they'd aspire to having rather than the sort of women they'd actually end up with.

I thought Kennedy-Martin mentioned the Air Hostess angle in an interview. When he sat down and thought about Regan as a Character, he said that he just jotted down things like what his (Regans) interests would be, football team he supports, what news paper he reads, where he sat politically, where he was from, his move through the Ranks within the police and virtually built up a backstory.
Part of that also included what type of women Regan would go for - and who would go for him.
I think it also may have been mentioned in one of the Commentaries too - by either Tom Clegg/Trevor Preston/Garfield Morgan. Possibly the one for "Ringer" on the Network releases in 2004.
Though, in "Jack or Knave" we discover that he had a fling with a CID typist during his Divisional Days - and it's her statement that pretty much clears Regans name from the corruption charges.

Always preferred Regan’ over the other two movies! and also think the soundtrack and library music had a 60s feel to it!
