IMPORTANT UPDATE:
I have now removed the link to the hotel from my opening post due to a complaint from a member that it routed to an overseas site which results in bookings being a few quid more expensive. The link was meant ONLY to indicate which hotel I was booked in. Stupidly, I assumed people would be wise enough to figure this out for themselves, but sadly no. Thankfully, I am unaware of anyone else having a problem.
From here on in, everyone will be responsible for researching hotels for themselves. I won't be making suggestions again.

Such a shame, the link worked perfectly well for me even to the point where if I registered with them then I'd save about a fiver on the two nghts' booking.
A fiver's not a huge amount these days but it would go well towards a round.
The link was probably followed on an iPhone. Despite Apple's claims about how reliable and secure their hardware and firmware is the biggest issue I have with buyers both on my online shop and on eBay is with iPhone users not being able to access the sale item's details or being misdirected.

Sorry to hear that someone felt it necessary to complain, rest assured that all the work you put in to these meets is much appreciated by the vast majority Gene.
Like Sam, I also received a few quid discount by registering with the hotel, on some kind of rewards programme.

Gene, I did take a butchers at the hotel from the link and it wasn't any problem from my Android device. I also checked in again via PC on Chrome all ok there. I was thinking I'll book one and cancel if I need to but decided to go last minute if I can make it.

I managed to get a discount from what was advertised by actually phoning the number, seen on the link and paying over the phone, so quite pleased I did that. I would like to say though, thanks again to the Guv for letting us know the recommended hotel, so we could book it ourselves. All sorted now - Glad other members have managed to also!

Finally, the itinerary for the Spring & Port Wine Meet. The format of this meet will be back to normal with a morning walk around a few prominent locations, followed by a nice lunch break in a pub, before we collect our cars and head out to a few more fantastic locations to round off the day. Driving we be quite easy and covering only around 12 miles in a round trip so nothing to concern anyone. (* The itinerary is subject to change but unlikely to do so) On to the details: Saturday October 1st:I plan to arrive in Bolton for around Midday. I will be busy for the first couple of hours as I have to see Bernard Smidowicz who appeared in the film, to discuss the itinerary for the following day. I anticipate that I should be free for around 2pm, when I will then be having a leisurely stroll around town for a couple of jars. I'll then be returning to the hotel to check in, have a wash & brush up and then I'll be heading back out into town for an evening of drinks and no doubt a bite to eat. Anyone arriving in Bolton on the Saturday is more than welcome to join me after 2pm. Just give me a call when you arrive or drop me a text and I'll update you as to where I am in town. Sunday October 2nd. The Meet:WE WILL MEET UP AT 9.30am in VICTORIA SQUARE, right in front of BOLTON TOWN HALL. PLEASE - DO NOT BE LATE. THE MEET WILL COMMENCE WITH OR WITHOUT YOU AT 10am SHARP. As mentioned earlier, NO CARS will be required for the morning walkabout tour. Cars should be left either at the hotel, or if you are travelling in to Bolton on the day, parked at a car park near by of your own choosing. Do a search on Google, there are plenty of car parks nearby - > Nearby Car Parks < THE MEET STARTS AT 10am SHARP.The first part of the tour will be conducted entirely on foot. The route we will take will be leisurely and be around 3.5 miles in total, taking us to the lunch stop pub. - The first set of locations see us follow the journey of Arthur Gasket & Florence Crompton in Arthur's yellow Land Rover
- Arthur & Florence end the journey when they crash at the traffic lights (Scenes with Bernard Breslaw & Michael Medwin)
- By popular demand to be included on this tour - Fred Dibnah - King of the Steeplejacks. Fred's final resting place and a chance to pay our respects to the great man
- Fred Dibnah's house - Did you know Spring & Port Wine was Fred Dibnah's favourite film?
- Daisy Crompton falls over! - Gorses Steps, where Diana Coupland fell for real, hurting herself as she ran away from home.
From here we will return to the town centre for our lunch break at a pub to be decided nearer the time.
Upon leaving the lunch break pub, we will all then collect the cars for the afternoon tour. Driving is expected to be relatively easy and only around 12 miles in total. - Arthur Gasket's House (Scenes with Marjorie Rhodes)
- Hilda runs away (Scenes with Frank Windsor in the park)
- The Crompton House and surrounding locations (time will be allowed here for all the surrounding locations)
- Rafe chases Daisy along the canal. (Time will be allowed here to follow in the steps of Rafe & Daisy to the canal bridge)
That will conclude the Spring & Port Wine Meet. If things go to plan, this shoud see us finish around 5pm where those leaving for home can head off and those staying the evening in Bolton can return to the hotel before having a final evening in Bolton.
I will be handing out addresses and postcodes to all drivers on the day. Following your sat nav or phone sat nav makes this really easy.
As ever, any questions, please fire away.
Here is a selection of the locations we will be seeing...
Gene.

Cheers Gene π This itinerary looks brilliant. It looks like the Sunday is going to be a brilliant day, visiting the scenes of a great Northern and British film. Can't wait....
