I like it too, some good location shots near the festival hall among other places, looked to have been filmed in late 74, leaves off the trees, and the Scimitar driven by Prunella Gee was on an N.

I rewatched Cover Story last night
It's one of the more bizarre episodes - some interesting directorial decisions including the screen switching to bleached out black and white as a torturted Jack remembers his time with Sandy
There's also much to enjoy...
- George's bright green Ford Escort driven at breakneck speed by Jack
- Jack and Sandy's flamenco flavoured meal. Interesting to reflect how rare going out for a meal was in the 70s. So much so, that those few restaurants often couldn't just rely on the food and needed a gimmick like manic flameno dancers, or a giant fish in a fish tank
- Extended scenes round the South Bank, at a time when it was still regarded as an architectural monstrosity and barely anyone went there. Today those locations would be teeming with people pretty much 24/7
- Sandy's camp friend with regulation neckerchief
- The villains giving George a beating in their frighteningly realistic dodgy bar
So whilst the plot doesn't bare much scrutiny, indeed is pretty ridiculous, I still really enjoyed it

A few other Cover Story thoughts...
Given that Jack is an experienced, grizzled Detective Inspector, how credible is it that he'd suddenly lose his head over Sandy? When he first meets her he's pretty sharp with her and ignores her good looks. In no time at all though he's behaving like a love struck teenager.
She's a nice looking woman but, even if he did fancy her, wouldn't her pretending to be dead before they go on her first date set the alarm bells ringing. What was she playing at? Seemed to me she was a total loon. I'd have been racing for the exit after that stunt. Surely Jack would do the same?
Also, wouldn't Jack worry about how it would play with his team? It's obvious George isn't too impressed but surely the rest of the squad would be amazed and appalled that the guv'nor is behaving in this way.
What do you think?
I realise the whole episode is ridiculous, and that's part of its charm if you go with it, but even on its own terms it does throw up some inexplicable plot points

WFH today, and this is on in the background. Noticed they edited out the "Your friend Peter the poofter might have the time of his life flitting from cell to cell" line Different times. Do like this episode, think it's the location filing, very atmospheric.

Funny you should mention this Soldier as I happened to watch the end of the first 'Man About The House' episode last night & they edited out the line 'I told him you were a puff'.
I'm sure their reasons for editing content that might be considered offensive is about protecting the broadcaster rather than viewers, if just 1 viewer registers a complaint then they can get into trouble with the Broadcasting Standards people & pay a fine as a result.
In fact more offensive than 'puff' was the reaction of the Ropers after being told Robin is 'gay', they refuse to shake his hand & leave the flat very quickly.
Pretending someone is gay to 'correct' a situation was fairly common in tv/film of the past. They do it to Oz in Auf W Pet. There's a fine line between mocking prejudice & seeming to condone it. Censorship is censorship though, shows should be shown intact & it left up to the viewer to make of it what they will.

I agree with you, AP. Abduction was on this morning, and the line from George about playing monopoly with Uncle Fay etc was edited out.

We did indeed Alby. She was a delight. A lovely lady who was easy to talk to when I was making the arrangements to get her to the Meet.
