Then again the market is a classic backdrop for many a scene in TV and cinema

But, all the same, a great episode all the same.

It's a shame ITV4 don't drop The Sweeney and say Talking Pictures pick it up and show it uncut after 9pm like it should be. Sure TPTV would be interested if the cut episodes weren't perpetually on ITV4 as they are... It would fit in with things like Out, Special Branch and Hazell they've had on there!

Love the scene in the night club for Lyon's acquittal party "You'd better not drink a toast to me, Lyon, 'cause I've been put on to you now, and I am not a gentleman, and I don't like losing....

Agree with Soldier - an excellent quote.
Also like the dialogue between Maynon and Haskins
.......nothing wrong in harnessing vengence to justice'
'That's as maybe - but you're talking about harnessing it to Jack Regan!'
Classic.
And there are others..........

That non stick B****** Still a great episode cut or not. They've got to find a way to cram the 25 or so advert breaks into the hour somehow. Little bits of dialogue and the odd pickup shot here and there are usually the target for the scissors - cut a few of them out and the extra advertising minutes will soon be found.
I still can't believe that they get away with technical quality of the ITV4 broadcasts. Originally, they were using copies made from original broadcast masters - masters made from film to 1" tape around 1980.
It appeared that these masters were the source for any repeat since from 1981, right through the Channel 5 and Granada Plus years - as they had the same bumps, scratches and edits.
On the first broadcast of the Sweeney episodes back in 1975 - they were screened directly from a fresh film print.
The quality would have been first class.
Even on an old Telly!
I agree TPTV should show them - it'd fit in with their schedules.
Just a point of curiosity - do ITV4 publish their ratings? I'd be interested to know what the Sweeney pulls in - as it always seems be in their schedule (and has sponsorship).
